Anybody been checking the Longhorn boards? What is the general consensus regarding how they feel their chances are? As we get closer, I continue to get more confident. I feel like we could really match up well here and start the season with a solid win against a marquee program (albeit, a rebuilding one).

That being said, I have no idea if their fan base sees this game as a probable loss or not?

Does anybody else think the Irish are going to stomp them? I'm thinking it's a 31-13 type of game. I normally convince myself that the opposing team could win the Superbowl, but I just think the Irish are going to blitz them back to the stone age...

I have a buddy that's a big Orangebloods poster, and deeply into the program with recruiting, etc.

He feels like it's a loss now.

But I will tell you this: Texas is chock full of talent. We have to be weary of their potential. And Strong knows what he's doing. He will build a team.

I'm still looking for 2 tickets, 3 if you have them. Will pay over face value, but no stub hub/ebay prices.

Extremely tall order this close to the game. I don't know that you're likely to find anything unless you scalp on game day.

I know of many UT kids that are going up without tickets with plans to buy some up there. I wonder how hard it's gonna be to buy scalped tickets for the game.

I actually am fully expecting to lose this game....:banghead2

I get nervous when I see Irish fans soooooo confident of victory which makes me think we will lay an egg.

There will be an egg, but not this weekend. I think Virginia will be the letdown game, a close win.

I'm cautiously optimistic.

The first game of the season is always the most impossible to predict, because all we have to base any of our guesses on is eight months of how we've looked against our own players.

I expect Texas to be improved from last year, because Charlie Strong is a very good coach and a very good program builder. Us going down there next year is going to be a crazy tough game to come home with a win.

But we have more experience than them on both sides of the ball, and our coaching staff has had more than one year to develop the players.

If I'm looking at this game with an unbiased eye, I'd say Notre Dame by ten points. They have a good defense, but the offense is still an unknown at this. Brian Kelly mentioned that he thinks Texas is installing a new offense. How will we react to an offense we aren't full prepared for? Those kinds of things can throw a kink in our gameplan and make the final score be closer than we would have anticipated.

Any time I've expected us to just roll over a team, it ends up slapping me in the face and it's closer than it should ever be (Hello, Purdue and Northwestern games). So I'll stay more grounded and say the final is Notre Dame 28 Texas 17.

I think we are going to blow them out. Unless some of their players made HUGE leaps from last year I just don't see this being close.

usually pretty easy I hear, it could be tough for this game though. I haven't scalped in years.

I think it's going to be a lot more difficult than usual.

1. It's the first game for both teams (no losses, duh)
2. I'm guessing UT sold all of their allotted tickets to people who are actually going to use them.
3. A lot of young alumni are treating this as a reunion weekend. We are good about getting each other tickets for face value rather than selling to the secondary market.

Not sure what Texas might be baking up with their "new offense", but I think if we protect the football win by two touchdowns.

I think the Irish are going to be nervous (first game, first home game, night game, well-known opponent, etc). Last year the game against Michigan was similar, and although we ended up stomping them it was a slow start (two timeouts in the first three minutes, and we didn't score until 13 minutes into the first quarter). Hopefully any jitters don't lead to picks, as happened against UNC last year.

This. A ton of younger alums going to tailgate and get a ticket if the chance comes up (in addition to what gk said).

I can't wait to see Malik play. His energy is going to be contagious and make games look like a ND house party at times.

HahaHaha! This is where I'm at right now. Super pumped. Start feeling confident then I think about games like usf/Tulsa/northwestern.

Just showing up ready to roll and enjoy the show.

I think we win,... But how anyone can be expecting a blow out is beyond me... This is Texas, not Temple...

You realize early in the season Ohio State lost to Virginia Tech, beat Penn State in OT and almost lost to Minnesota.

ND must get up for every game, there just isn't that big of a talent gap to allow teams to coast. I hope the boys are pumped and ready.

I'm hesitantly confident that we win. I'm done predicting blowouts anymore under BK until I see otherwise. If we protect the ball and hammer them we can win.
