I am feeling 35- 21 (Big Tex).

But I have had this (sinking) feeling every year since the Willingham era.

I need to come up with a Prozac or some such specifically for ND fans... I would take it myself, and make millions...

I don't understand why everyone is bringing Indy into this consistently... Wasn't the discussion on the most NATIONALLY despised teams in each sport??

For CBB it's Duke by MILES... right?

I wouldn't say that maybe in the 90's... but in the last 15 years UK is who I see the most hate for

No hope.

31-28 Texas...

actually starting to feel this way... lol

I was super optimistic but now I am starting to panic. All the "objective" people picking Texas has me wondering if we are just too biased.

Here's your prediction for last years game...

I think we win,... But how anyone can be expecting a blow out is beyond me... This is Texas, not Temple...

So what am I to think? You called the winner so ND's screwed? You got lucky on the winner since it was beyond you how anyone could expect ND to blow out UT?

I got my bookie on the line and I need an answer quick!

Locate your dicks, ladies.

The only clear advantage they have is that they're at home, where they were a dazzling 3-3 last year with wins against Rice, Kansas State and Kansas - three powerhouses, I know. ND is more talented, holds a clear advantage at QB and should kill them in the trenches...again.

If Vince Young is out of eligibility and ND protects the ball, ND is coming back to South Bend 1-0.

Is everyone seriously losing faith? I've always been reserved in my judgements prior to a new season but we usually have a bunch of kool-aid fueled posts talking about blowouts by 4 scores and Heisman campaigns.

It can't be only NDinVan, right?

They just need to play the damn game. Everyone is overthinking it. Notre Dame is either better, more experienced, or both at almost every position. The media heads are letting the arrests get to their heads. I can also almost guarantee you BK will use all of that as motivation for the team.

I'm a little nervous for the season with the QB situation and other distractions. As far as this game, we're better along both lines. That usually wins football games. It won't be easy but we'll wear them down.

I would feel better about this game if we had A qb and not 2. I don't think we blow them out but it's about time our guys play with a chip on their shoulder.

FWIW, I feel good about this game.

That's all I needed to hear. ;)

Honestly I had the same feelings last year before the game of worry and doubt that i have this year. I do before almost every game, but I think we win by 2 touchdowns, at least. They are inexperienced and coming in a little too cocky in my opinion. Bunch of cocky punks right now.

I'm nervous but when I doubt ND, they have a better season. I'm fine with the offense. We'll put up points on anyone, and some receivers will step up. The defense has me terrified. The safety situation is cause for concern and our DC has given us reason to be cautious. We'll see on Sunday.

Also, I don’t know if this has been discussed or if this is the best place to discuss it (mods feel free to move this to another thread) but has anyone considered the reason that our receivers are dropping passes is because they are receiving the ball from a right handed thrower and a left handed thrower. I remember last year talking about how the spin causes some people problems and takes time to adjust. Again, maybe already discussed, maybe not even a big deal, but thought I’d throw it out there.

Yes on a national level Duke is hated like ND football, the Dallas Cowgirls and the Yankees.

I hear ya. Both are great QB's though. Not sure what to expect but I think Kizer will get most of the , if not all of the reps outside of the redzone. Zaire obviously will get red zone snaps and will come in if Kizer struggles. Who knows....just my best guess.

I completely agree. And it's not that I think either QB is sub-par. It doesn't allow me tovisualize an identity for the offense. Which in turn makes it hard for me to have expectations.

Not pumping sunshine. Not even predicting 11+ wins or a playoff appearance. This year's squad definitely has question marks. But not nearly as many as Texas does. And we have proven strengths that they'd kill for. So I don't see how UT > ND in any objective sense. Lots of sh!t will have to go very wrong for us on Sunday to lose to the Longhorns.

I think the national media heard about 6 players getting arrested on the same night, did zero follow up on its actual implications for our team, and have now collectively decided that Texas is going to win. In reality, I don't think there's a single position group on Texas' roster that I would take over ND (maybeeee LB but solely because of Jefferson). I predict the Texas bandwagon is going to look mighty foolish come Monday morning. Please God don't make me eat these words.

Excellent post. Couldn't agree more. ND will shut up all doubters on Sunday. I also hope I don't eat MY words.

Agreed on position groups. And Jefferson is less of a factor if the offensive line can drive their defensive linemen like they did last year. Movement and how well Nelson, mustipher and mcgovern work together on double teams to get a hat on Jefferson is the key to the game. I'm confident they'll get the job done and Texas will fold.

I agree, but a lot of people were calling for a UT upset prior to the incident. But as I have said, if someone honestly thinks we are a 10+ win team, then we should easily handle this team.

If ND doesn't dominate this game in the trenches on both sides, then both lines should walk back to South Bend. We have potentially one of the best OL's in the country, and a enough talent depth and experience on the DL to win the battle up front again their OL. So what/who does Texas have that makes people think UT will win this game. Quite a few random turnovers is probably the way I can see this not going how it should.
