You will have a good time anyway us Irish will look after you and guarantee you have a great nights crack after the game.

Off-topic, but is it true that the Irish consider our sh!tty domestic macro-brewed beer to be premium stuff over there? Say it ain't so.

First of all, thank you for welcoming us to your beautiful country. We hope you enjoy the game as well.

That being said, I too would like to know about your country's beer preference. Furthermore, I think we all need to properly discuss single malts...

excited to see who wins the QB and CB position battles, cannot wait to begin my day with ND destroying Navy and ending it by watching Denard getting slammed into the turf by the Alabama linebackers

I literally can't wait for this game. I guess more anxious than normal cause it Navy and their freakin' Triple option. I think Diaco has it figured out, but I just have this sinking feeling that they will bring out something special that may give the D fits. The good news is ND's offense should have no problem running Navy's D into the ground. Go Irish!

Missed ND in Dublin last time. Coaching a high school rugby match that day. I never thought I'd get the chance again. Am absoluely buzzing at the prospect. Be great to see all the Irish supporters in Dublin. Guinness and Jameson's all round.

Well it is now August, practice starts in 3 days and September 1st is right around the corner. I'm going to make my prediction now beacuse it's time to talk about football, not recruiting.

I think it's safe to say that Golson will be the quarterback and i think he makes this offense dangerous. We should have no problem running the ball with our great o-line and Navy is replacing a few starters on their d-line. Our passing game should be pretty good but we will have to see who steps up to replace Floyd and make a name for himself.

On defense, I think Diaco has finally figured out the triple option. I think our front 7 is just too experienced and good for Navy to be effective using it. Our secondary won't be tested this game so I'm not too worried about them.

I think we come in and completely run the ball down their throat and we win 49-17.

Ran some prediction models this morning given the suspensions, the probability of winning with Tommy at QB was around 86%. Now that he is no longer available, the model drops to just around 51%.

FWIW...the model predicted the final winning percentages for both of Kelly's years at ND. This year, the model had the Irish going 9-3. Will run again to see what it comes up with assuming Tommy does not regain his starting position.

We're less than a month away from Notre Dame-Navy in Ireland and the Midshipmen aren't in good order at the start of camp this week. Head coach Ken Niumatalolo is trying to send a message that he's not messing around anymore after a 5-7 season in 2011 with some pretty big moves.

Both of Navy's captains have been stripped of that status indefinitely due to what the team is calling poor decisions made in the offseason. No one elaborated any further on what exactly happened.

Niumatalolo also sent home some of his better players after they failed the conditioning tests at the start of August. The team's top wide receiver, Brandon Turner, and projected starting OLB, Josh Tate joined junior CB Audrey Felder on that list. The players can rejoin the team on Aug. 20 if they pass a second makeup conditioning test, but by that time they will have missed three very valuable weeks of practice.

That's too bad. I hope Navy can right their ship before the game. While I want to win, I also want the Irish (nationals) to have a great show.

I figured the odds of a Notre Dame win would go up with Tommy out, this model must not count turnovers

Turnovers in the model were a one year conundrum. For the Irish to win, they have to run the ball and stop the run. Sounds really simple, but ND, more than any other team in the country had the greatest correlations to these to variables with respect to winning percentage. Run the ball, stop the run, win the game...that simple.

Strange that cadets from the naval academy seem to be having leadership and discipline problems. Of all the things that can go wrong with a team, those are the least likely, in my opinion, to occur with Navy. That's one of their big strengths!

So, does anyone here follow Navy at all? Who and what (besides the obvious service academy option) do we need to be ready for this year?

The team will be better than the one that ND faced in South Bend last year. Navy is a team that can beat anyone any given day (ND recently, beating up on MIzzou, almost beating S. Carolina and OSU, etc.) and lose to anyone any given day. ND's best plan is to run it down Navy's undersized throat. Their LBs are good but some of the DL is inexperienced. DEs are on the smaller side. If they try to throw and get cute, accidents happen and Navy will have a chance.

Offensively, they'll be improved from what you saw in South Bend. Stopping the option as they did last year won't cut it, as Navy will have adapted and won't be running out a QB in his first college start. Going to take some new looks and perfect execution. As a ND fan, I'm mixed. First game gives some extra prep time, but its not the easiest team to ease into from an execution standpoint and the work you do for Navy prep won't translate to the rest of the schedule.

Overall, should be a relatively easy game on the face of it, but I would've said the same about '07, '08, '09, and '10.

Navy will never surprise ND. It's all about execution on offense and staying at home on defense. Easier said than done. But I expect last years game to provide all the necessary confidence and experience for a relatively easy win. Go Irish!

I don't see how Navy will be better this year given that their top qb and fullback have graduated...

Has it been said what channel this will be shown on? Will CBS actually show this at nine in the morning?
