My father was an avid ND fan and absolutely loved the University and everything it stood for. In the mid-70's something happened and he went from loving them to hating them...he would literally swear everytime he heard mention of the University's name. I was too young to really care what it was and he has since passed on so I can't ask him now. I think it had to do with something some players did and that ND still let them play but i can't be sure. I bring this up because I'm affraid that I'm really starting to get angry at the school about all of this. At the onset until recently I've been angry at the players that they put themselves in this position. If it becomes apparent that ND is slow playing this to project some "we hold ourselves to a higher level" or "look at how holy we are" BS...then I'm done too. 35 years of being a stupidly huge fan...but I'll be done. Somebody will recieve a rather large vBuck donation if this turns out to be the case and my Leprechaun outfit will be donated to the Salvation Army. I hope that it all makes sense when this thing ends.

I'm not sure it matters but I'll pass it on anyways. As most of you know TJ doesn't post much during the football season but Sampson came on one of the threads to say that TJ shares his opinion. Which this is taking far too long to play out and the players deserve better.

Which allowed All- Americans Browner and Bradley to be on the '77 team... which almost certainly doesn't win the national championship without them.

Hope some lemonade comes from this year's lemons like it did in '74.

You would quit being a fan because of this? That bottles my mind! Because some kids were dumb enough to get allegedly caught cheating you would stop being a fan of ND? wtf man, wtf.

I could be wrong but I don't think this is what he said or is upset about. Like most people on here that are upset at this whole situation, I don't think the frustration is that they got caught...I think it is upsetting that they sat for so long and might be innocent. At least that is where I stand.

If they are guilty, suffer the punishment...and hopefully it is time served (suspension). However, if they are innocent and did nothing wrong (as KVR alluded to earlier) then very bad on ND's part to drag this out and have them miss half the season.

No...I would not quit being a fan because some kids decided to cheat and brought this on themselves. I would quit being a fan if it's determined that the University that I love and cherish is un-necessarily grand-standing on this whole thing. I maintain that I'm more angry with the athletes that I am with the University at this point. That could change when the whole story comes out...that's all that I am saying.

I thought Mike McCann's comments in this article from Eric Hansen were pretty good. Some of you guys bashing ND might get a different perspective if you read it.

Not that there's no merit in the "taking too long" complaints. There is. But, there are some good reasons for things to shake out the way they have, too.

Nothing in that makes me change my mid about how this was handled. To top it all off, the idea that they have to wait for the decision is ridiculous. You know, because the American judicial system only tries people together and then waits to render decisions once ALL the trials associated with a crime have been committed. I'm thankful the student athletes have been vocal, brings light to the exploitations the university has subjected them to. There is absolutely no reason that these guys, if not guilty, should not be playing this weekend. With the hearings completed, the decisions should have been rendered and them either reinstated or faces their punishment.

I know I haven't been actively posting in the thread, but this is bad... I have a horrible feeling this is nothing more than the Administration flexing its muscles at Kelly and his Football program. And they are pulling this stunt to make sure they know who runs this shyte.... I have a sick feeling Kelly is gonna leave.

Out of all of this, that is my biggest concern. Probably the only thing that can take this upward trend off it's tracks.
