Recruiting violations happen all the time in HS. Especially in areas where HS football is big time. Top coaches can earn 100,000 plus.

Also some areas and states don't allow recruiting at all in HS, so any type of recruiting is a violation.

Maybe just his stipend for being the football coach. He makes more than $2,500 a year in compensation. I know some coaches that coach at small, crappy schools who make $50,000 or so. And $40,000+ as an assistant.

He was also the schools guidance counselor, but he literally only got $2,500 for being the head coach. So yeah, basically a stipend. I know the amount cause I had a relative as an assistant coach.

Glad to see he wasn't one of the Starks to get killed on Game of Thrones tonight, this bump had me worried.

I just started watching the series from the beginning the other day. Don't ruin it for me, jerk.

Wonder if he will look at any other schools now? If he is unable to play I hope he picks a good school and get good grades. #teamStark #WinterIsComing

Poor kid, a victim again.

That's certainly not what I was implying. By all accounts he had no one but himself to blame for the incident at BG. But, if you read the linked story, the quote below is what my last comment was about:

While Cherry Creek officials, who could not be reached for comment, originally thought Starks would be eligible — "they thought it was a bona-fide move," Angelico said --and contacted the CHSAA, the commissioner informed them that he is not.

he can transfer to my school in Ohio and only have to sit out the first 5 games with our new rule...if he wants :)

Good idea. He can stay with us. I will make sure he gets to school and practice every day. He may wish he was in lockdown, but he would make it clean.

It'll be interesting to see where he goes from here. The article mentions that Colorado has some of the more liberal transfer rules regarding high school football. This seems to imply to me that perhaps other states would follow Colorado's example and hold him ineligible.

Hope he finds a way to keep it together and be able to make it to a school regardless.

Maybe the best thing he can do at this point is to do the 7v7 circuit, take summer classes to catch up, and hit the books hard in fall to make sure he will be eligible to go wherever he desires. Never want to have to sit out a year, but it very well could be the push he needs to hit that next level of desire getting to college.

That would make no sense academically. Even Canada, who actually has HS football as opposed to club in Europe, would not be smart academically.

lol my bad forgot the italics, i was referencing Brandon Jennings of the Bucks from a few years back

He should stay at Cherry Creek. Plenty of kids miss their senior season and still get recruited by top programs, and Cherry Creek is one of the top public high schools in the country in terms of academics. If he can't play football, re-focusing himself on academics and in the weight room would seem to be the best way to prove to coaches he is mature enough for college, and CCHS would provide an excellent environment to do it in.

• RB Nathan Starks (Greenwood Village, Colo./Cherry Creek) fell out of the ESPN 150. After being suspended from school, off-the-field issues plus the fact our initial assessment of him being overrated in comparison to others at the position was confirmed after studying more and more tape of prospects from around the country prompted this move.

It would be nice if we ended up on the good end of one of these situations for once.

Would we even take another pure RB this class though?
