Do we know when the last hearing is scheduled for?

I don't buy the "wait until all the hearings are done to render a decision" stance. Have to wonder if they were not athletes, would that be the case? Every one of the allegations is different, it don't understand how they can justify the timeline. You have facts on the specific case, make a fucking decision.

They have to wait, because in theory all of this cheating is connected. What if KVR tells one story and Ishaq tells a completely contradicting story two days later?

I get the need for separation between FB and Academics. However, the speed with which this process has taken place is inexcusable, especially when considering the trauma/stigma placed on these student-athletes - regardless of their guilt or innocence.

They've all handled it better than I would have. BS.

Hell the speed with which this has been handled for a regular student is questionable.

This is exactly it, and why I think it's really dumb that people (re: Chicago Tribune) are acting like the "procedure" on file applies here. That's not the case. They're making it up as they go. This isn't your typical isolated cheating case where 1 student goes in front of a committee accused by 1 professor over a singular potential infraction. This is "we launched the largest probe into academic dishonesty conceivable, and now we're going to let each person say their piece and confront the evidence against them."

It matters what everyone says here. They might not have great "smoking gun" style evidence, but if they successfully "good copped" a player or two into incriminating themselves (and the others?) as has been rumored by some, then it might not matter at all.

Either way they're not going to "clear" someone just to have the next guy say "oh yeah that dude was cheating"... so they have to wait until everything is fully wrapped. I don't mind this at all. I mind that it took weeks upon weeks to get to this point.

Reading between the lines here, this is how big institutions act when they're afraid of getting sued. Everything is extremely formal, certified mail only, etc. I'm hoping this is just the influence of the Office of General Counsel, but it may also indicate that ND is truly worried about getting sued over this.

Pray that's not the case!

I don't think 1 would lie against the other. Nor do I think they need to. But If that would be the case, than Good riddance to those involved with It. They would only be a detriment

I just hope that whatever the procedure, it wasn't like going to reslife. Even though I escaped injury from that experience, just sitting in that room felt like they had chained me in manacles and were judging me in a sort of kangaroo court. And that was with two rectors declaring me innocent. I escaped, but it sure as hell didn't feel like it when I was in there. I hope the environment of the "hearings" was less heavy.

Your rector didn't keep your punishment in-house? You must have done some serious stuff. I had to go to an alcohol abuse class but never knew anyone who got a REAL reslife... and I broke parietals every single night fall semester of sophomore year. I still think that's some kind of record.

I forgot that someone was under 21 at Legends and got caught buying them a drink. Legends almost handed me over to the police but this person didn't have an ID so it was kept on campus.

And yeah, if they sought to punish people for parietals breakage...oh boy. I'd never have graduated from ND I'll tell you that much.

Im sure this has been brought up but it just all comes down to the fact that Notre Dame wants to show the entire country that they are different. And they wanted to show everyone that the football players are students first and at any other school they would most likely say, well these are football players so lets gather the evidence and then let them know asap one way or the other so they can play or be gone. But Notre Dame is so hell bent on being different that they are hurting these guys and even if the well being of the football team doesn't matter to the admin, it is the biggest part of these players lives and they should've kept that in mind instead of trying to prove something, which imo they are trying to do. Its not preferential treatment in my eyes because if the evidence shows they are gone then do what you have to do but don't drag it out just because you are trying to prove something and act like athletics aren't a huge part of the school.

When did you graduate? I knew tons of people that got reslifed and kicked off campus or to Carroll or something. For tiny stuff like a bit too much vodka or being late walking your gf out.

Me too. The Bill Kirk days could be rough on rule-breakers.

"Described details of assignments thoroughly so they couldn't say I didn't do it," the post said. "AND THEY STILL SAID MY DECISION WONT COME UNTIL ALL 5 OF US (and some other minor hearings) ARE DONE. Decision MIGHT come next week, not even 100% it's tough to understand these people."

He's right. This is poor due process. The University looks like idiots right now. Thank god for Michigan football, because otherwise the main topic of college conversation would be how Notre Dame has bumbled their way through a completely arcane process.

From the sounds of KVR's comments, he was being accused of more than just having knowledge of others cheating (which is what most thought his role was). If he talks about

KVR said:
Described details of assignments thoroughly so they couldn't say I didn't do it

then most people here's suspicion that he had a very minor role is inaccurate. This was mostly coming from rumor's that were posted here. So if that piece of information is inaccurate, it is hard telling what other rumors that have been taken as fact are untrue also.

According to the ESPN article posted earlier, it says a source told ESPN that Daniels and Moore's hearings would be Friday and Ishaq and Hardy's hearings would be Thursday.

The sad part about all this is that the people in charge wake up this morning convinced they're doing the right thing. They have no clue or care what anyone thinks and for some strange reason there will be some rumblings when it's all done, but nothing will change. Bass ackwards

This is the kind of crap that happens when an organization spends more time reveling in its past accomplishments and traditions than looking to be better.

So just to be clear, the committee is made up of 3 students, 2 members of faculty and how many members of NDNation?

who knows maybe it took so long to form the committee because no ND students wanted to be one of the 3 to rule on this...

Could have been the opposite... Too many wanted a role in the process and the university had to screen people for unbiased opinions.

Yeah, this has long been my suspicion as well. It's based on nothing at all, pure speculation, but I can't help but wonder if not only students but also professors were reluctant to serve on this committee -- recall that there were rumors at one point that professors were slowing the process down by being suspiciously unavailable. If you end up finding the kids guilty, you become a target of ND fans nationwide. Not that ND would purposely make the committee members' identities public, but it might get out.

I don't blame KVR at all for being frustrated. There is nothing worse than being falsely accused of something. I'd be furious at the slowness of the process if I were him. Although, like others have already said, I think the really appalling thing is not how long it will take from here to the verdict but how long it took to get to this point.

Hey now, according to Kmoose none of the players have been accused of anything yet, there is just an investigation. :rotflmao:
