Anything new todaydidn't think so.
What's this draft status stuff??
Not the same. First, Eddie isn't transferring since he's not even a student yet. Second, coaches contracts usually have buyout clauses so its not as if there is no penalty.
Well we could ask EV to pay back millions of dollars and call it good but I think he would rather just sit the year out. Coaches have to pay back a lot of money if they leave early and same situation if they are fired, they get paid. Of course that is if their contract is not up, yet.
Not to mention a coach doesn't promise to come coach the team, but then decide to back out on that commitment a month before he's supposed to take the job.
Tell me a situation where a coach actually paid the money and I will give you that point. The kids are hamstrung by the NCAA and held to a higher standard than coaches-at least IMO. There is no buyout clause for a student-athlete.
Coaches are professionals, students are amateurs at most schools. Why are we even attempting to compare the two?

FIFY
Nope. Not even going to follow up on that. I did actually, Y! SPORTS - article uses rather amiguous wording on who paid what as well as stating that Alford AND UCLA paid it. However, that cannot be the norm (for coaches to actually pay it) or even statistically relevant. Just my thoughts based on nothing more than my...brain recall. lolSteve Alford, New Mexico Lobos agree on buyout - ESPN

Do I need to produce more are two somewhat hi-profile ones enough.

Still don't think it's right. A coach can make promises and fail to keep them with minimal repercussions while a kid gets hammered. If you don't see that, we are on the wrong wavelength.
Don't get me wrong here-I am all about keeping your word. I'm of the mind that a verbal agreement is a binding agreement-haha-or even a written agreement is a binding agreement. However, that's just not how this world works.

I've been gone for a week on vacation and we are still debating the same things? Oy...
Par for the course...

All too true.
And on that note, stop changing your signature. The Browns won a championship yet.

Screw talkin' bout signatures, some of you changing between avatars is freaking me out!
Speaking of oft-changing avatars, should a post of yours be the last I read at the end of a night, I make a point of visiting a web site with pictures of cute kids or kittens before I go beddy-bye.
I know what you meant, but boy oh boy that last sentence sounds bad.
All too true.

Point well taken. It never occurred to me that my comment would be viewed "that" way. I suppose that I could have added something that might have squelched your twisted interpretation, but I failed to anticipate.
Now that you've let the cat (kitten?) out of the bag and unleashed the hounds there's little to be done but sit back and make the best of the bumpy ride.
... I look for different interpretations of almost everything. Yesterday one our salespeople made the mistake of saying they "only had nuts for lunch"![]()
