Also, to answer the question, I'm going to go with KVR.

I like the thought of reinforcing what is already looking to be a formidable unit.

KVR first, without a doubt, then DD. While receivers have been inconsistent, they're young and will likely get better. Cole Luke was picked on a bit against Syracuse, it would be nice to ease him in a bit more by having KVR back to take on some of the tougher WRs we face with Riggs opposite of him.

I can only imagine the "dirt" that might be put out into the universe if the worst comes to pass.

lol yup... all I'm going to say is that 90% of the time when a program gets "burned" it's by:
1. A disgruntled player OR
2. A legal case where stuff comes up in discovery that is an NCAA violation

Methinks we're about to have some pretty disgruntled players... especially if they were under the impression during the early stages that this would be a quickly resolved process where they might take a zero on a paper at worst.

It is strange how none of this has come out yet...what they were specifically accused of doing and the extent to which it was done. I know there has been a lot of speculation, but not having the complete story makes me wonder.

I have to think we get KVR and DD back, possibly Williams. I don't know the extent of the other two. But those appeared, according to the earliest stories out there, to be the "least guilty" if that makes sense.

Someone said it right a few pages back:

To me, It doesn't matter what happens anymore. I've already accepted the team As Is now. Getting anyone back is just a bonus at this point.

Generally, universities are legally obligated NOT to reveal this level of detail regarding students. That's why you see so many vague press releases about "academic issues" or ineligibility. The school is also limited with regard to how much they communicate these details to the student's parents. Student privacy trumps here, so we've been stuck with rumors all this time.

"Pick 1" game is hard for me. You could make a case for either of DVD or KVR, and, to a lesser extent, Ishaq.

DVD is the guy who both (a) could make the biggest impact, for the reasons Lax gave in his post #7974, and (b) is the least needed player in terms of depth, because we have plenty of functional guys at WR; DVD is just the best of them. We could put him opposite Fuller and he could give us some of what both Chris Brown and CRob bring, combined in one player, without having to shuffle guys in and out. I would love that.

I look at KVR as critical more for depth reasons than anything else. We are fine with Luke and Riggs at CB, and Farley has been playing out of his mind at nickel, but if any of those guys gets hurt, especially Riggs and Luke, it could be a significant problem for us because there is a drop-off from each of them to the next guy. (I really don't like Riggs returning punts right now for just that reason; we just can't afford to lose him to injury as long as KVR is out.)

The problem with Ishaq is similar, but not as dire with the way Blankenship and Trumbetti have come on. Utupo too.

The other thing about losing KVR and Ishaq for the year, if by some chance that happens, is that we could get them back next year, which would be a nice silver lining.

Speaking of Fuller, excuse me while I brag. Who was it that told both TP and NDinLA and said Fuller >>>> Brown all day back in August, when they were saying how Brown was going to break out?

Yours truly!

We could also get DD back next year if he has to sit out this year unless he can't come back because he has been suspended already. He has 2 years of eligibility left if you count this year. I would rather have KVR back. He is the best corner we have had in a long time, possibly since 2002 era when we had Shane Walton and Vontez Duff. But DD is also the best receiver on the team, though Fuller has definitely impressed me so far. His speed is probably the best of the receivers (other than Brown but he gets open and has better hands than Brown). CRob had a great game Saturday, too. But we definitely do not have a ton of really good depth at WR and DD back would help with that. So it's a tie for me between those 2 guys.

I may not have been clear, but my point was that KVR and Ishaq have not redshirted, so by not playing this year they preserve a 5th year that they would not otherwise have had. DVD redshirted his freshman year, so he already had a 5th year available, which means that -- just like with Golson last year -- any year he loses to suspension he really loses and cannot get back.

If DD is suspended the whole year, all my vbucks says he'll never play here again. He'll transfer (academic hardship?) or most likely go to the NFL.

Oh yeah. The question might be academic ... I definitely think he will go to the league as soon as he can.

Yeah that makes more sense. I didn't know that was what you meant though that could have been my fault for not reading your post more clearly. Most people have speculated that KVR wouldn't be back next year even before the suspensions so not sure he would be, either. He has probably impressed enough to go to the NFL next year if he wanted to. But he might come back. I guess it depends if he is as angry about all of this as DD seems to be. I don't see how he wouldn't be, especially if his only transgression was not snitching (which we do not know for sure that is the case).

Is DD better than Robinson?

He's more complete, imo. CRob is probably better than anybody in a jump ball situation, but DD is also excellent in that situation, plus he is stronger, more elusive and a better runner after the catch.

So, who is up first tomorrow? Will the hearings and a decision be made by Friday? Any chance Russell and DD suit up for Stanford? We need these 2 back ASAP for the October stretch!

After all this bullshit, it is crazy that tomorrow it actually starts.

Although I'm honestly not even willing to bet vbucks it DOES start tomorrow. I bet they'll take it to Thursday if possible.

Do we have anything concrete that it does in fact start tomorrow??
