You guys all talk about it for a while. Uh, then let me know what you decide!

They have Andrew Williams and Lorenzo Carter higher on their board probably.

No doubt. I don't have a strong preference for where Luatua ends up anyway. Just getting nervous about OLB. We need bodies; at least 2, hopefully 3.

Per Wiltfong If it wasn't for his parents wanting him to take his visits he could already be committed to ND. Luatua sees a great fit in ND for his skill set

TE first, CAT second

Thanks, Bud! But I was asking Whiskey whether he was scared about scarce bodies at OLB or ILB. Isn't Tyler the kind of guy you let pick, while carefully trying him a both, LOL?

Both, actually. We need 3 at ILB and 3 OLB at maintain something close to ideal depth.

If this is true, why haven't we offered Aniebonam and are slow playing Yeargin? Seems like you'd go after those guys and save spots for Carter and Williams. Just my opinion I guess.

I haven't heard anything about slow playing Yeargin in fact we are tryin like hell to get him to visit. Staff is very high on him, per TJ at II. On Jesse we are trying to figure out where we stand with other OLB/DE's that we like better.

I see. I wasn't aware about Yeargin. That's good news at least. It's been awhile since I last saw his thread. Thanks.

I'd say our chances of getting both Carter and Williams are close to zero. If they want in, I'd take Yeargin (who may be an ILB for us, no?) and Anniebonam and wait for Williams.

Would love to see him on D. If he was a fit at ILB, I'd be thrilled provided A Williams arrived to play CAT. There would be some nasty talent flying around when paired w Jaylon, D Randolph, Mr. Martini, Deeb, etc., etc.

I agree that the chances are slim. But I was referring to the post that Carter is higher on the board, which means the staff will recruit him relentlessly, ultimately saving a spot for him in the end if it came down to that (I'd like to think anyways).

To get back to Tyler, basically what I'm saying is I see him at TE because I think OLB recruiting this cycle will be pretty elite if ND lands Williams, Yeargin, and one or two others. This class seems stacked at this position as far as players who are considering ND in some fashion.

We are looking to take 1-2 OLB's and 2-3 ILB's.

So I've read, but 1-2 doesn't seem nearly enough. When the 2014 kids hit campus, Spond and Shembo will already be gone, leaving only Williams, Councell, Rabasa, Okwara and Smith at OLB. Williams will be in his final year of eligibility, and Okwara may get moved to DE at some point. So we could conceivably be at 4/8 at OLB, with one of them about the graduate. How is it not a higher priority?

I legit think there is a chance we might be switching to 4-3, just a possibility

Me too. Has this been discussed much as a possibility? We've been having a hard time landing a true NT, but have done well with DE's and DT's.

Also, if Diaco continues to have: 1) incredible hair and 2) coach lights out, he may take a HC job somewhere. I suppose a change in DC's could mean a change in defensive systems.

That would explain a lot of things, though I've always thought that's much easier said than done.

I had been thinking that off and on since the '11 class but then every year towards the end of the cycle they seem to toss out offers to guys who fit the current 3-4. But you can tell from some of their positional recruiting (namely the lack of pursuit for pure NG recruits seemingly ever and their inclination towards 'versatile' big guys) that they aren't locked in to playing the 3-4 consistently. Heck, even last year we ran a base 4 man front quite a bit and moved guys all over the place on the DL.

So in short? I have no idea what they're thinking. I also have no idea whether Diaco or Kelly or both will be here next year. So I guess it's wait and see... I concur with your "legit chance."

What do tight rolled jeans, the Adkins diet and the 3-4 defense have in common?

in theory we play a 3-4 "no crease" but technically we play 4-3 the 50% of the snaps.

We already have three TE studs commited, i see the OLB thing very likely for him because he is an excellent athlete. With Anthony Barr and Dion Jordan was not bad, is not it?

It would be terrific if we land a Southern California guy who has Bama Legacy.

Wrong year. Right Idea. Can anyone remember when we have taken four in two years? Guys like Niklas don't count when they are not taken as TE's.

Why wouldn't you count Niklas? He was recruited as a Big Skill ATH to play OLB or TE...he ended up at TE. Not sure why you wouldn't include him.

And it's possible that ND lands 3 TEs this year and has to move them around. Weishar, Luatua, and Mark Andrews are possibilities in this class alone. And because the staff can move them around, I can see them taking all three. Weisher at TE, Andrews at WR/TE, and Luatua at TE/OLB. What a great "problem" to have at ND.

Niklas was also projected to be a ot. A rare individual. At this point you take great talent. If we ever get to the 85 scholarships then we can taper back. Versatile guys that can play multiple positions, special teams and are smart....sign them all!
