NCAA: Did you follow your process, when you suspended the 3 kids, and let the other one off.

Notre Dame: Yes, we hired an outside firm to conduct a thorough investigation, passed it on to the honor committee, and came to a conclusion, treating them the same as any other student. 2 kids were suspended, two recieved lighter punishment.

NCAA: We have a document here that says you actually conducted the disciplinary meeting 2 days early than you would have otherwise, because the students had a football game coming up, is that true.

Notre Dame: Yes, we expedited the process, because of the public nature of the story and the kids involvement in football. We considered that choice well within our discretion.

NCAA: Oh, OK.

I don't know how you can say, "Oh, Ok" there like that response is obvious. Two days could easily be the difference between being unprepared for a hearing and being fully prepared. I personally don't know enough about the process to say for sure, but neither does anyone else unless they know the schedules of every member of the entire honesty committee. A two-day delay could be entirely insignificant or critically important.

Are we really going to have the sun set on us today and not know anything about KVR? Couldn't he be tried first, since it's believed his role in all of this is by association and not participation.

My point is that IF there is no good/necessary reason to follow some preordained, arbitrary timeline, they don't need to follow the timeline for its own sake. No one is going to think ND is trying to get out of anything just because they pushed the process forward within reasonable limits (except for some talk radio guys). I would not want to open my conspiracy-theory Deadspin article with: "It ussually takes the provost 9-days to get a student on their schedule, but for ND football players, 7 is apparently enough." Not compelling.

I also fully admit that I have a bias against all things bureaucratic, especially those involving academia. I tend to think people within important buerachracies are smug, self-important, and self-justifying.

So knowing that there could be perfectly good reasons that the process is dragging on, the reasons I have heard so far aren't convincing to me.

And michigan Michigan!

ND has higher standards: its alphabetical order or they may as well just join the SEC.

BTW, I have no problems with people who think the process is continuing in a reasonable manner, even if I tend to disagree. It actually makes me feeel better about the situation. I just don't want them to make a show of their "fairness."

methinks if we were playing purdue this weekend and not michigan the "drumbeat to expedite" would be much quieter

Well I agree I'd be less persistent in my bitching. But if it was Purdue week and I was asked about it, I'd feel the same way, just careless.

"Fairness" would be ripping Michigan's collective heart out while it's still beating and showing it to them, Temple of Doom style... wait, what are we talking about again???

How cool would it be if we were down 10 points after the third quarter and Officer McCarthy gets on the speaker and says:

"And remember....if you cheat on an assignment, you will....F it. F Michigan."

and then the players run out on the field to lead us to victory.

95% joking.

Exactly.

Don't know about you guys, but I don't think I have seen so many false rumors on one story, in my entire 57 years.

Might have been encouraging had this been his first tweet since the investigation started, but it's not. He tweeted out a shorter ellipsis last Friday.

This seems to be going at the same speed as the American justice system.

I got a call yesterday from an AUSA telling me that a guy that I arrested back in November/December is going to trial later this month.

I think it's pretty obvious it just means "Still waiting."

I've combed through the different rumors and what I've been told and I've come to an educated guess that the fate of 2 out Moore + Ishaq + Hardy has been decided in a negative way. DD and KVR still up in the air. Feel pretty good about it.

No doubt in my mind DD and Russell will get drafted next year if they enter draft. DD is a combine warrior and I think a great receiver, as good as ND has had aside from Floyd.
