They're coming out to measure tomorrow then install next week, assuming everything goes smoothly. I'll take pictures when complete.

You all suck. I come in this thread to show off my sick ass wood stove and only GowerND11 shows me any love.
Yeah well it's 78 degrees in my living room so suck it.It's 70 degrees in Houston today. I don't want to see any of that depressing shit.

We're hoping to heat as much of the house as possible with wood. In order to get the bedrooms a decent temperature, the room with the unit is going to be roasty toasty. So open a widow, why don't cha?
Unless you're going for sauna level and then intend to dive into a snow bank.
Does anyone have a recommendation on a good (affordable) miter saw? I'm not looking to do anything more complicated than wood racks and cornhole boards.

This one?I have a 12 inch Dewalt miter saw and a 10 inch Ryobi sliding miter saw that my old man gave me. The Dewalt is better but the Ryobi works well for the price. If you're using it for small projects, I'd recommend it.
Milwaukee makes the best tools, especially cordless, in my opinion, so I'm sure that's a good option.

Any concerns using it to cut pressure treated 2x4s? Should I get a special blade?

Holy shit I can cut 2x4s, I asked for a product recommendation. I know there are metal compounds in pressure treated wood and that they can be hell on saw blades. I don't cut a ton of wood and I'd like to know if the advice is "NEVER cut pressure treated wood with a normal blade" or "you can cut some pressure treated wood with a normal blade if it's only light use."Looks like I touched a nerve here. I don't need more friends, especially ones that can't cut a god damn 2x4 without getting instructions from his internet friends. lol

Maybe you should let your wife take care of the home improvement stuff? Don't want you to hurt yourself.

I actually like the idea of a mitre box but they're so shitty. I've wasted money on two, one with a janky clamp and another with shit plastic that the saw hacked right through.OK...welp I presume you are not going by hand with a mitre box. Hey some guys still do that...what can I say.
If you are going to bang out a specific thing and be done...dude, seriously consider the Harbor Freight 10" slider...cheap...90 bucks or so at times...and gives you some flexibility as it can act like a radial arm saw too. Some people like that better than the chop on stuff bigger than a 2X4...shrug. I've purchased two of those when I was helping people, and just left them with them as a gift. They work just fine if you aren't trying to build a piano.
If you plan on doing real precise stuff, or frequent work...I like any of the mid tier saws (Dewalt, etc.) Table is a nice add. Again the elcheapo Harbor Freight one is fine for infrequent use...
for general use to cut lots of stuff I use a Freud diablo Blade (40 tooth), real flexible re material, and get reasonably fast cuts, but good cuts.
Have fun...
