One likes TACO BELL, the other just points out Chiptole is shit.... 'hipster'... for the record: McDs still has the best fries, and a great value menu,... Subway has great sandwiches for the price point, Starbucks is good stuff and numerous other major chains provide good food at decent prices... Chiptole does neither.

Taco Bell? T Johns or bust.

Burger King > McDonald's sans fries

Subway = mediocrity personified

That's one thing I noticed when I lived in Florida. No sandwich places. Here, there's a local pizza joint every ten feet and they all serve fresh sandwiches.

See, if I was going to qualify anyone as "hipster" I would have gone with the Chipotle lovers  In fact, I've even heard Chipotle called "The hipster's Taco Bell."

I have not, nor will ever, hear anyone refer to Chipotle as a "taco bell ______". They are completely different. I don't get why you keep comparing them other than they are both mexican. One has fresh ingredients and the other is the poster child for chemically enhanced garbage.

It's also not hipster. It's a pretty basic place you can find in most strip malls.

I think that were you live can greatly color your opinion of Chipotle. I live in Southern Arizona and so I never go to Chipotle as there is much better options for cheaper. Now if I lived in a place like Wisconsin or Indiana, I am sure that it would change my opinion.

People in North Dakota don't even prefer Chipotle...only hipsters go there....that's saying something

Obviously, if there are better local options than "Chain X" you go there. Let me put two hypotheticals to you guys from some current job sites I'm working at:

1. On the block is a Chic-Fil-A, Potbelly, and Chipotle. Where do you go and why?

2. No food very close. You can walk two blocks to a Chipotle, Subway, Jimmy Johns, or Five Guys -- or pack lunch. What do you do and why?

Chipotle and hipsters are a thing, ask the Google interwebs. It's not hipster in the sense that "Everyone loves it, so I must hate it." It's hipster because hipsters go there. I would also say that it's debatable how fresh and wonderful Chipotle's ingredients are next to Taco Bell given the rampant health issues they've been exposed to in recent years. I'd rather take my chance with Taco Bell garbage if it means not contracting Ecoli or nanoviruses.

I think that were you live can greatly color your opinion of Chipotle. I live in Southern Arizona and so I never go to Chipotle as there is much better options for cheaper. Now if I lived in a place like Wisconsin or Indiana, I am sure that it would change my opinion.

I'll admit it's been my personal experience that lots of people in Ohio like Chipotle, but I know better and don't bother going there anymore. If I want good burritos I'm going authentic or to trusted places. If time is a factor, I go to Taco Bell. For me, Chipotle is some sad middle ground where the food is somewhat fast (If the line isn't ridiculous) and doesn't agree with my pallet. Maybe it's the way they cook their meat or what they put in it, never found something that I've liked from there and I'm not a picky eater. You've got to really work to earn my seal of disapproval.

1. Not been to a Potbelly, but they look like a nice sandwich/soup place that I would enjoy. That said:

Chic-Fil-A -> Potbelly close second probably. Screw Chipotle.

2. Three sandwich places you list...too bad Penn Station isn't an available choice. Hands down that's my favorite sub shop. Hard to beat their Philly Cheesesteak even if it's modified a bit from what traditional Philadelphians would consider a Philly. On top of that, their fresh cut fries are my favorite from any restaurant (Save for maybe Outback's cheese fries), slathered in vinegar. That said:

Five Guys -> Subway/Jimmy Johns, depending on the mood -> pack lunch. Screw Chipotle again.

I'd eat everything there in rotation except for Subway. Never Subway.

What are Potbelly's prices like in the real world? I've only ever been to one at an airport.

This. I'm shocked at the amount of people I know that still go to Chipotle in this town when they can pick any random taco shack to get better and cheaper food. It's not that I hate Chipotle, but I found their food to be significantly less flavorful than any of the taquerias.

Pack a lunch bc I'm cheap and eat healthy so I look good naked.

Subway has great sandwiches for the price point

No. There is not a price-point that would make Subway's shitty bread, luke-warm meat options, and tasteless cheeses worth it when there are cheap and 100% better places nearby.

If you have to go the sandwich chain route, Jersey Mike's or Jimmy John's. Penn Station if you want something hot.

You just lost all credibility. Starbucks is hot garbage water. GTFO with that crap. I can roast better beans in my air popcorn popper.

Yes. It is literally hot garbage water. The coffee doesn't taste like coffee. It tastes like hot water with a bit of coffee flavor.

Subway is foul.

This man knows.

1. Potbelly sucks. No bang for the buck. No customization. I'm going with Chic-Fil-A, but Chipotle is okay if the drive-thru at Chic-Fil-A is too crowded. (The only problem with Chipotle is that the meat is so hit-or-miss. Sometimes the chicken is great, sometimes it tastes like charcoal. I usually opt for the steak, but more often than not it's too chewy and has no flavor.)

2. Walk two blocks to Jimmy John's or Five Guys. Suffer through the meat-and-salt sweats on the walk back if you picked Five Guys.

I'd eat everything there in rotation except for Subway. Never Subway.

Reiterate: this man knows.

And Potbelly is still trash.

I patronize Chick-fil-A on the reg because it's a fantastic organization:

1) Food is good
2) Customer service 4 realz
3) Chick-fil-A sauce
4) Clean
5) The corporation stands for something and sticks to its values

When I was in law school there was a concerted effort by certain members of the school to boycott Chick-fil-A because it was "anti-gay". I appreciate that it didn't back down.

For real. There has to be good-manners-brain-washing in their training video, because they are ALWAYS extremely polite. Like, they never have bad days working at Chic-Fil-A.

Also, my campus had a "vote" to add a chain restaurant to our Student Union to go along with the generic Chartwells places. Chic-Fil-A won in a landslide, like 70% of the votes, to 25% for Skyline, to 5% for Panda Express.

Guess which chain wasn't added to campus for fear of starting a riot among certain student groups?

Panda trips me out... it's easily one of the better smells from a food spot... you can smell their food from a ways away and it's a wonderful smell.... they must cook it all out of their food tho bc as Chinese goes their stuff is pretty bad... their price points are terrible too considering what you get compared to other simalar, better, and cheaper options. Nothing smells like Panda Express tho, I'll give them that.

There is a Chic-Fil-A right across that stress from my school... I've never been tho, still never had CFA, ever... there are none close to me aside from that one and I've never seen it without ten cars in the drive through... I've been like, " I'll try it one of these days when the wait isn't 30 minutes...." for many years now... lol

We just had Steak 'N Shake put in, which apparently was part of the original vote? I don't remember that, I think the guy is lying because PC, but here are his quotes:

Andy Meeks, director of business operations and auxiliary services, said the plan to bring a national brand to campus started two years ago, and originally, Chick-fil-A and Panda Express were up against Steak ‘n Shake to fill the spot...

Meeks said Chick-fil-A was the number one choice for the spot at first, but after some “image problems” and discussions with various student groups, Steak ‘n Shake won the vote in the end...

I need to visit all of these "cheaper options" you keep talking about where Chipotle and Panda Express strike you as expensive. Around here, the good local places are also the expensive ones (i.e. I pay at least $20 for a single large pizza). Panda Express is like $7 for a plate big enough to split between two people.

But the only excuse to ever eat there is if you're in a mall or airport with no other option.

Maybe it's just different out there? PE doesn't taste that great, they never actually fill your plate like every other Chinese take out does and it's always the most expensive option for that style food....
