Milo is my favorite. The Milo-Shapiro debate on The Rubin Report is going to be nerdgasmic for me. I'm sure Whiskey finds him appalling.

This surprises me, wizards. I would have assumed you to be more on Shapiro's side than Milo's.

I can see why Milo appeals to some on the right; he turns the left's own rhetoric against it, and who doesn't enjoy seeing their enemies hoisted with their own petard? But my reaction is similar to kmoose's. Such tactics are like a sword without a hilt; there's no way to employ them without damaging yourself in the process.

Intellectually, I am. I disagree with Milo wholeheartedly in his support of Trump and think it shows some serious cognitive dissonance on his part when it comes to his political positions. But Milo is so much more fun.

I've never heard Shapiro say something I disagree with.

Understood, but I think he's a net good thing for the cause of liberty. As he says, the Left doesn't know what to do with him because they can't attack him on the standard lines of racism / sexism / bigotry / homophobia. He also penetrates the bubble of liberal colleges and starts conversations that otherwise wouldn't be had on campuses.

Do we have any resident progressives who can rectify "multiculturalism" with: Islamic Council Says Husbands Can Beat Women

Obviously, Trump's "Muslim ban" doesn't make sense... but I also see an awful lot of cognitive dissonance with saying we should let in a whole bunch of people who think lightly beating their wife if they refuse intercourse is OK and saying to "respect their culture"... while also saying we should have a culture in this country that respects women.

At some point can we call a spade a spade and say that there are serious issues in compatibility between a Western society and what Islamic leaders routinely preach around the world?

The Great Yale Costume Crisis of 2015 continues to embarrass the university: the couple involved in causing (not really of course) the crisis by suggesting the university administrators should not be approving Halloween costumes has stepped down as heads of their college (that's like a dorm at Yale).

I am stepping down from serving as Head of Silliman College at Yale @Silliman2. In my experience, ND students are far too mature to behave in this way. We've been spared most of the childish hysteria sweeping over campuses around the country. But for how long?

It's funny if you guys have a problem with that video...because that video is extremely tame compared to most that are on the same subject of systemic oppression.

Sounds like my "Race in US History" class in college.

What it should have been called was, "White Privilege and Guilt"

Also sounds pretty similar to my "Couples, Families, and Marriages" class.

Should have been called, "White Heterosexual male, & Nuclear Family Guilt"

I saw something on Facebook over the weekend that I thought was interesting.

It showed definitions from various places of "Black Pride," "Hispanic Pride," "Asian Pride," and "White Pride."

The Black, Hispanic and Asian entries all began with "is a way for [person of this race] to express pride in their culture and heritage."

The White entry began with "a signal of racism or racist movements."

I obviously understand why this is the case, but it still interesting to me that it would be a problem if I stood up and said, "I'm proud of being white, and of my white heritage."

I'm proud of my ancestors taking fine Asian and Mexican cuisine and then Americanizing them, making it much more delicious and available.

Taco Bell and any Chinese joint FTW!

I've ended people over less...

anyway on the all whites are racist thing... I've met/worked people who teach or have taught college level history/ethics/humanities who teach that absolutely all whites are racists, period.

In a Muhammad Ali discussion on another site, someone pointed out that he was racist because he said a lot of racist things and that he "preferred to only associate with people of his color" or something like that.

Someone chimed in and said he can't be racist, because he's a POC. So the other person said "well if a white person said that..." and the person replied "if the white person said it they would be racist because they are racist oppressors and it would be an act of exclusion."

Not a single argument made by any of these BLM people or their ilk would pass a philo 101 class because the logic just does not work. All of the premises are flawed. All of them.

Also, I went to a high school that was majority Asian, and to this day it cracks me up how they get a total pass despite being BY FAR the most overtly racist group of people I've ever met (Koreans worst of all). Only time I've ever had to date a girl "in secret"...

"Bro, philosophy curriculum taught at American colleges was made by white patriarchy to use "logical" arguments that support white privilege and oppression. Of course people who reject the white patriarchy are going to fail! The system itself is designed for them to do so."

-BLM sympathizers...probably

I had friends and roommates that were Korean in college and they always complained about how racist the Japanese were.

Here's how I'd explain Asian racism:
1. They all (weirdly) look down on each other. Koreans don't date Japanese or Chinese, and vice versa. But they all REALLY don't like Vietnamese, Thai, etc.
2. Of the "Big 3" in Northern Virginia, the Japanese acted by far the most "superior" towards other Asians.
3. I don't have any experience with trying to date a Chinese girl, because they're (generally) the worst looking.
4. Japanese parents seemed to be the most OK with a white looking part Latino "American"... I honestly think it has something to do with whipping their ass in WWII.
5. Koreans seemed the most strict about only dating Koreans, and they also HATED black people. I have no idea where that sentiment is rooted.

My best man/friend is Korean, born in Korea, grew up in K-Town L.A. ... he's def a fvker.... lol

He did marry a girl of Mexican decent and his family, to a person, pretty much disowned him for a while there... good news is once the kids came they all turned around and his parents and wife are on pretty good terms best I can tell (credit to his lady I know, if my wife's parents, or vice versa had flipped a shit like my best man's parents did over our interracial marriage IDK if that would have ever been fully healed).
