I take most of these RIP things just as "news" and move on. This one is different. BGIF and I didn't agree on everything but with him as a mature gentleman that didn't matter. We really enjoyed each others' "company" on the WBBall thread (I hope that someone tries to keep that going.) He was a balance wheel on almost anything on the site, and, as THE Old Man, had earned the role. God bless him.
From the funeral site (by his brother):
"Jack was an honest, gentle person whose good nature left others feeling better for having known him. Life long Notre Dame fan, well educated and wicked smart, highly respected nationally for his engineering skills, a positive influence on the life of many, grew up an Eagle Scout. Served his country as a soldier and loved his wife. You leave little but the memories people have of you and the effects you had on their lives...not a bad legacy."
