About 3 years ago, when I was still in Syria and new to IE, I said this about the hire of Brian Kelly:

Personally, very luke warm about this hire...which means I should be in love with the man by week one of the season. Still, I can think of about 18 million reasons why we should have stuck with Charlie for at least one more year.

The spread in South Bend...let's hope it comes with a D.

Boy was I wrong. Turns out my worries about Kelly were completely misguided. He was not married to the spread. He did not neglect the D to fuel the O. ND's national recruiting network did not break down. 3 years later, the program is stronger than it's been in 20 years, and it is all because Jack Swarbrick was the AD at Notre Dame and not me.

So, who is next? Let's hold ourselves accountable for where we went wrong. Lord knows I'm not the only poster on the site with dud posts on my resume.

For me it was Kelly or Brady Hoke. Obviously Hoke had Michigan ambitions. Meyer, Stoops, Gruden et al were just pipe dreams.

I talked to Trevor Laws after he committed to ND. He had just gotten back from a visit. He told me about Ty Willingham and what a presence he was in the room. I KNEW at that point that Ty was going to recruit better than anyone before him. I KNEW he was going to lead us back. After 8 games, I KNEW I was right.

Mea culpa, friends.

I predicted a Notre Dame loss by now.

I bought into the whole Deontay and Tee being completely solid bit.

I'm sure there's more I can't think of.

Said ND would go 8-4

Thought ND was gonna get Arik Armstead and Shaq Thompson smh

Thought we would get Zeke Elliot for sure this cycle but he's solid.

Was so confident CW would return the Domers days of glory, I named my then 12 week old puppy Charlie.

Pass the salt.

...there is the obvious mocking of D+7 pollsters samples, which rolled into Silver's predictions...already ate crow in the now infamous "just curious" thread.

Annnd, I picked us to go 8 and 4...

I know I'll need to post for like another five years, and bat 1000 to get my cred back.

I started my own sports blog just to make a post about how good the offense was going to be once BK got hired. I predicted Crist would throw for 3000+ yards with 32 TD's his first season, and be a Heisman finalist in year two.

I like my crow with barbecue sauce.

I also was lukewarm and completely straddling the fence when ND hired Kelly. I'm proud to say I'm off the fence and totally all up in BK's back yard. In fact, I'm like an outdoor dog that's not only lobbying for a doggie-door, but to reach full blown "inside dog" status at his abode.

Jeez so many.. I'll just go with two.

I predicted 7-5 to 5-7 this season. I may have written a total meltdown of 3-9 was possible.
I wasn't sold on Kelly AT ALL ,but now I am convinced he can get it done.

I have never enjoyed being so wrong in my life before.

I didn't say it on here 'cause I wasn't here, but I was proclaiming that Tommy was going to win the Heisman in a few years after he took over in 2010.

Anyone have any Sweet Baby Rays?

I said I was "hopeful" about this year and not "confident" b/c I thought our cornerbacks were going to get torched all year.

I believed a good friend and OSU diehard who insisted that Urban Meyer had taken a last minute flight to Gunner Kiel's hometown and was about to flip him to OSU (thankfully a mod intercepted that post before it went up - I'm forever grateful).

And lastly I said Obama was going to get 303 electoral votes - turned out to be 332.

I have predicted a perfect season for ND every year since 1944. I may not be perfect, but I was right more than once. (I have to admit the Joe Kuharich and Gerry Faust did offer an occasional reason to doubt.)

Love me some sweet baby Rays!

I predicted at the beginning of the 2011 season that Darius Fleming would have a Von Miller type season...

I still love Flemming and think he did a good job at ND.

When BK was hired, I said I would not be fully on-board with him until he wins a BCS game.

I am fully on-board with BK and his coaching staff; they have changed the mental, physical, and the overall culture of 'accepting mediocrity' at ND, and they have done it within the framework of what Notre Dame stands for....

Can't kill something that died under Turner Gill. Believe it or not, KU looks better this year than they did last year.

They were bad...they are bad...but mostly I was clowning around...not totally though.

I know we discussed the QB that was a PITA that Chuck ran out...the selective memories of fans are likely grinding on that and giving Chuck a whack on his judgment, and his people skills...Hadf DC played well...its different. If Heaps sucks it up...uh oh.

Add in the run-in w/ the student paper...Chuck isn't building a cache of good will...and the bank was already empty (as you alluded to). If Chuck stays on this trajectory, I worry how long he is there...If he goes in an ugly scene...who takes the job?

Thats killing a program to me...by virtue of the fact Chuck is there, he is a name, and there is some hope for pulling some really good recruits to make an impact quickly.

...and now I know there is an eating crow thread...so I can say what I want and go to the "confessional".

I like Charlie, and I like DC. I think they fell flat on their asses. I think patience with Charlie will evaporate quickly. ...I hope Heaps is better.
