Athlete. Means he's versatile and talented enough to be good at more than one position.

The #3 thing is pretty cool. He has serious respect for Floyd. I really do like our chances here.

I think this is our biggest big fish this year... Lynchesque maybe?

Not saying he is or isn't a lock, but there will be meltdown on these boards once he starts taking other visits.

WTF??? No there won't be. We all know he's taking other visits, and most of us feel he's either a longshot or a "hopefully/please God let him not like those other schools as much as ND" kind of kid. The time when there are meltdowns is when a committed superstar decommits. When this kid takes other visits, we'll all just be waiting to see how he likes them and hoping he isn't wowed into committing on the spot (not likely).

You're way off on this one.

I don't feel like it's that far off, maybe just semantics. From most reports it seems like ND played its hand as well as it could on this one (visit couldn't have been better) and now we can only wait to see how the cards play out. I think there's reason for optimism but once he starts his other visits, everyone's going to feel like some dudes are talking to their prom date. Not saying it's right, it's just how fans are, lol.

But we are the dude talking to the prom date, not the other way around. We were never the favorite and we were never suppose to have a chance. He was always going to either the Florida schools or USC.

There should not be a meltdown at all.

Fair point. Still, from what we've heard the visit couldn't have gone better. Everyone has their hopes up now, and it's always nerve racking when a 5-star (who's very interested in ND) shows interest elsewhere. I won't be in meltdown mode, but I can understand why some would be. This kid is a 4-year starter at the next level.

I've been around this board for a long time, and yes, he is far off, and as was pointed out, your analogy is off too.

When Agholar starts taking other visits, WHICH WE ALL KNOW WILL HAPPEN, this board will not be in meltdown mode. Not even close. Hardly anyone is even going to be upset by it, because he's not even committed to anyone, much less ND. If he commits somewhere else, then yes, people will be pissed. But when he takes other visits, will this board be in meltdown mode? Nope, and it's not even close. Not even a discussion really.

You think so? Prom date = not girlfriend, but interested. Agholor = not committed, but interested. I thought it was a spot on analogy, lol but if you say so...

It's all good, maybe meltdown is a bit exaggerated and disappointed is a better fit.

FWIW, I did a little more digging...

The USC recruiting analyst at 247 is not very optimistic about them landing Agholor, and really neither are the fans on that site (although they all have him on their wish list of course).

Wiltfong also posted yesterday that he is hearing UF and FSU are the two major players but that no one really knows.

If that is the case, then it can't hurt that both teams are doing terribly.

The difference is that Florida has lost to arguably the two best teams in the country.

Still they lost by 28 or more both times. They still have Auburn, Georgia, South Carolina, and FSU so it could be a long season for the Gators.

How many proms are there? If there were 5 proms, and you KNEW that she was going to be going out with 4 other guys, then you're not going to meltdown when she goes on the other prom date (unless you're a loser with no self-confidence).

In your case, you're talking about ONE prom. In Nelson's case, he's talking about taking 5 official visits in all, plus unofficial visits. Face it, the OP was wrong, as are you for saying the board melting down is 'a bit exaggerated'. It's waaayyyyy exaggerated. Give the board a little bit of credit, or just speak for yourself. We all know he's going on other visits; there will be no board meltdown when he does, nor anything close.

Sorry to go off on a tangent, but again, give our board members some credit. We only meltdown when our guys decommit :alcohol:

^ I'm with you here. I just don't like when guys give a verbal then "flippy floppy" later. Never mad at a kid who verbals to a school and sticks it out, whether ND or not. Just shouldn't be giving lip service, it shows a lack of commitment and a lack of maturity. I'd rather a kid, just like Agholor, play it close to the chest and make a verbal when he really knows and has made his all important decision. That being be said, a name like Nelson Agholor just has that ring to it, a ring that would reverberate throughout the annals of Notre Dame football lore forever, FOR-E-VER.

I don't think anyone on this site or any other would feel differently. I just think we have high hopes with Agholor after a perfect visit. Nobody's going to 'mad' at him for not choosing ND. If they are they are immature. Like I said, he's a 4-year starter at the next level. It will be very disappointing to miss on him.

Nobody knows anything, just have to wait until Feb when he announces.

Also, I believe USC is still the team to beat. When players say it is their dream school then they are always in the race coupled with the fact that he has multiple conversations with current and future players on the team and took two unofficials there. I still believe they are in the lead with this guy, which hurts me to say.

Urban Meyer said Notre Dame was his dream job.

Not that I diasagree with you, I just thought I needed to say it.

Chris Nee is very close with Nelson and the only reporter who Nelson will regularly do an interview with and he says its ND Florida right now. So ill take his word for it and if this board has a meltdown cause Nelson takes other visits than you all need to talk to a shrink.
