IF the defense builds on their 2nd half performance from last game, our Offense keeps doing what they're doing and we don't have multiple weather-related turnovers, I think we beat these guys by 10+.

Someone explain to me if this is true or false, please:

1) Last year we had a big play run game
2) Last year a huge portion of our passing game was Will Fuller
3) We have 3 RBs and a O-line that people respected in the off-season
4) There was no proven WRs waiting to replace WF's production
5) Teams thought it made sense to try to focus on our run game early in the season
6) We've responded by opening up the passing game, and score close to 40 a game
7) Plus, our defense has given up a ton of points, making us rely on the passing game more

SO....

Maybe some of the ineffectiveness in our run game this year (as far as passing the eyeball test), is more about Kelly taking what the other team is giving us, and leaning on the pass game, then the running game really being substandard.

I thought we'd get to put that theory to the test this weekend, since I think everyone will be focusing on our passing attack from here on out. However, the rain is going to undermine that.

Yes, that's some of the problem. But I don't really believe it's opponents "taking away" the run that is our biggest problem. I think the biggest singular problem is that the TEs suck and can't set the edge. The second biggest problem is that Mustipher-McGovern-Bars is WAY worse than Martin-Elmer-McGlinchey was... they can't sustain blocks and move people. The third biggest problem is that we have somewhat been tipping our hand in the running game with our checks and alignments.

I'd love to be at this game. Coach used to say the football gods were smiling when we'd get rain games. In practice we'd immediately go to tackling drills and guys would slide 10 feet on impact with the mud.

One of my favorite games is still the '08 Michigan game. It was raining cats and dogs, cascading waterfalls coming down the stadium steps. It was epic, but mostly because the skunkbears couldn't hold onto the ball.

Get rid of the zone read and straight up run it. Until then we won't have a legit run game. Not with Kizer.

That's right! This man knows what I'm talking about. It was epic. The only rain game I didn't enjoy was the 2010 South Florida game, but mostly because the weather was being a bitch with the lightning and just when we'd get some momentum they'd have to evacuate the damn stadium again. It was such a cluster fuck, not just on the field.

The only rain game I didn't enjoy was the 2010 South Florida game, but mostly because the weather was being a bitch with the lightning and just when we'd get some momentum they'd have to evacuate the damn stadium again. It was such a cluster fuck, not just on the field.

Last year's Clemson game, coupled with me camping on the water near campus was unreal. Frogtogs for 4 straight days. Was standing in 10inches of water watching the game. Still had a nice tailgate setup with generator and TV. Striper fishing in the monsoon the day before with Dabo and Venable's guide was off the hook.

I always found this to be the complete opposite as far as "footing" was involed. Yeah, NCS might not pass as much with all the rain but when the WR knows where they are going and the DB doesn't...one slip and the DB is toast.
