One of the fucking stupidest things I've ever heard Cowherd say, and that's really saying something. Probably the first time ever I've heard an analyst say that experience on the offensive line (or any position really) should be seen as a negative when evaluating the current season. Just a gobsmackingly dumb thing to say

Woud'nt even pay attention to the guy-when I heard it I just laughed at HIM not the statement which speaks for itself.

Notre Dame is 8th in the country when it comes to the number of penalties called on their opponent. Yes, timing of penalties matter as they can kill drives, etc. But I just haven't seen that against ND. At least not blatent. The Fla St call you reference was the correct call. They called it in that game. They missed it twice in the Bama/Clemson NC game. And the second one won Clemson the title. Bad calls/no calls happen. But malice due to ND being independent and playing an ACC team who could win the conference title is a bit of a reach IMO.

T Town I hope you are right and I also hope that attention is brought to this subject-the first thing Georgia people wanted to know before their game with the Irish was who was officiating the game. My point is only that if Notre Dame wins out ( tough to do) the ACC has a lot to lose. Personally I think there is a bias especially when its in their ball yard.

Watched that Cowturd video again...

My only logical thoughts: "This guy's ratings must be worse than I thought."

Cowherd is a self-professed contrarian. It's been his schtick for 15 years.

Last week he was all over ND blowing USC's doors off, because no one was predicting that. He got USC fans all riled up, calling the show, tweeting him etc.

This week, everyone loves ND. So what does he do? Take a stance that literally no one is taking (obviously because it is a ridiculous proposition), and just wait for the angry tweets and calls.

You could literally predict his stances on topics by just taking the contrarian perspective.

It's a strange phenomenon that most fanbases think they will win and are being overlooked/disrespected. They go on to predict a win and call the other fanbase delusional.

I perused NCState and ND forums and confirmed my thoughts. When both teams look pretty good, the fanbases are attracted to the stats that help them make their case.

Really can't wait to watch this game.

There are NC State boards? Is it the same 8 dudes switching from one board to another board?

Gotta feel bad for Lamar Jackson... if he had half the talent Wimbush has around him he'd be in discussion for a repeat

The pain will go away after his signing bonus hits his bank account.

Bruh he already signed with Louisville. That signing bonus is in the bank right now. Either Lamar's or the accounts of Pitino's finest ladies of the night.

For what though? I agree he'll get drafted, and this is more OT and spitballing, but what is he getting drafted for? Surely not as a QB?

Why wouldn't he be drafted as a QB? It's not like he's Denard. He's Deshaun Watson+. He's a 6'3 guy with a great arm and speed. He can't help that he's on a terrible team. Even last year during his Heisman year, when he had a so-so 56% completion percentage, 26% of his incompletions were the result of drops.

I'm interested to see if NC State is ready for this moment. Maybe they are, but is there anything to point to that they are? FSU wasn't even a full house, ND will be. There's also added pressure since this is a spotlight game and NC state has something to lose - they weren't even ranked when they played FSU IIRC.

Can their offense handle being down 7-10 in the first quarter if that happens? How will they respond to this moment bigger than any they've had from as far as I can remember.

The big stage can impact offenses much more than defenses IMO, so getting up on them will be huge.

I don't see it. Most reports believe he is shorter than listed (but you know... Brees). He throws a good ball sure, but I think his progressions are below average for a draftable guy, and his frame is lean. Can he had some weight so he doesn't get knocked around?

I just don't think he is a great prospect.... Do I take a flyer in the 4th or 5th round? Yeah. Then again, I'm not a GM.

Both sides think the opponent is underrating and disrespecting them. It's pretty funny.

IDK about that, lots of ND fans seem to have PTSD from 2016. I've seen a lot giving NC State way too much praise for victories over a shitty FSU team with a freshman QB in his first start and a talentless outside Lamar Jackson Louisville team.

Was just listening to ESPNU in the car. They had a Dave Doreen press conference on and it sounded like half ND job interview and half grade school kid wishing for a Micheal Stonebreaker autograph.

Guy obviously loved him some Irish growing up. Said growing up in a Catholic household meant the Irish were the topic of Sunday conversations. Brought up Tim Grunhard too, I thought he was from Iowa but he's from KC after a quick search. So that makes sense.

Watson is shorter and heavier.

NC State football has been down until recently but have a history of being a thorn in FSU's side - kind of like BC to us. They have won 8 of the last 20 against FSU dating back to 1998 - not a record you would expect those two programs to produce over that span.

They are hungry - don't kid yourself. In 2016 they took Clemson to OT and lost by 4 to FSU - that was 7-6 team. And they were a lot closer to being good last year than they get credit for. With two weeks to prepare and heal up we better come to play. Maintaining focus is a bigger problem for them - Clemson is lucky we get them first. Next two weeks are huge for NCST Football.

This is NC State's coming out party to the nation. They will be amped up. It's ND's job to keep them in the closet.

they have a bunch of florida/georgia/north carolina guys on the roster which have been passed over by the big ones in those areas...so they generally have some good athletes...but have missed on having any real game changers except for a few here and there which is why they have been inconsistent....

They have some talent, but not as much as USC IMHO.
DL is where they hang their hat. LBs OK, DBs swiss cheese.
No reason why our OL can't wear the DLs down, and no reason for BW not to be successful tossing it a few times.

And where is this week's prediction thread? Did I miss it?

SB Saturday forecast as of today- 45 with 50% rain (mainly AM showers).
I'm not expecting much from the passing game.
Cold wet balls are the worst.

Has this been shared already? Of all the ludicrous, anti-ND flame bait I've seen, this is the most absurd, bar none.

This is truly incredibly stupid.

(also: Wimbush RTd this, thanks for the bulletin board material)

Brian Kelly: "This isn't going to be the pinnacle to this season, there is too much in front of us!" Sounds like he's got the boys in the right frame of mind.
