Last night Justin Hopkins got into arguments with anonymous users on Twitter following the Barnett news and let his emotions get the best of him last night. It was unprofessional and unacceptable and that's not how we conduct ourselves here at 247Sports or who we are trying to be as a media organization. It was dealt with this morning and Justin was reprimanded by us. We take these situations very seriously. I ask those members who are upset at Justin, please do not take it out on Lou, Dan, Tom, Andrew and Steve, the people who I know work very hard every day to bring you the very best Notre Dame team and recruiting news.

GBDomer and anyone else who's doing this.
PLEASE stop tweeting nasty shit at Hopkins. We've been heard.
I'm not saying don't tweet relevant stuff, but let's take the high road and at least not act like ass holes.
agreed, but I'm not sure if they still get a big part of the concern is. All responses from 247 appear to be only focused on how he responded on twitter last night. Someone needs to explain it to them in very clear terms.
Yeah, but 'you're a piece of shit' and 'you got trolled bro' just makes us look like asses IMO.

I'm not sure if I'd want an apology from Hopkins. It's just going to be some fake ass bullshit apology that a celebrity or politician would make. He's not sorry for what he did, he's sorry that this may affect his career.
“@JHopkins247: I apologize for my actions on Twitter last night. I let a few anonymous users get to me and my replies were unprofessional and unacceptable.”
“@JHopkins247: That’s not who I am as a person.”
He also got rid of that douche profile picture in favor of the 247 Sports logo
That's as close to a victory as we're probably going to get.

It doesn't seem like they are aware/acknowledging any of Hopkins' actions related to Barnett's recruitment itself.
Great! Once Barnett recommits to the Irish, we can all laugh this off as a big understanding. Until then, fuck you.
They're simply engaging in routine PR damage control. It's cheap, meaningless, and will undoubtedly assuage some who don't understand what really happened here. But they're never going to cop to involvement in recruiting violations, because that could have a major negative impact on their bottom line.
I noticed someone asked you last night if you were an Oregon fan, but no answer. Are you?
Think it's pretty obvious he's an Oregon fan. There is a picture of him in a UO hat, and his kids in UO jerseys. Not exactly shrouded in mystery, and weird he won't just admit it.....
You are correct, they wouldn't admit it. But someone from 247 needs to at least address the concern by saying they will look into it. With no acknowledgement of the concern, then you have no clue if they understand the main issue.
As a "best practices" sort of thing, all of the national recruiting services should probably assign non-fans to team-specific beats in order to avoid the appearance of impropriety (or outright tampering, as in Hopkins' case). The professional temptation to influence recruits in order to have an inside scoop is bad enough as it is, but once you combine that with a strong tribal affiliation with the program you're supporting... let's just say that's not a recipe for objective reporting or ethical journalism.
