What looks like a good sign is that schools he has interest in mostly are far away from home, so distance appears not to be an issue. Also with Stanford in there maybe academics are a high priority

This kid was dominating summer camps all over the south as a junior. I even remember reading a couple analysts saying he is the best player in next years class. Not a stretch because he's already rated second but yes he is a beast.

For anybody that has a membership to rivals. There is video of OL vs. DL at some summer camps in he abuses people.

Think the schools under "Interest" are schools that have interest in him but haven't offered

It's amazing the discrepancies in rating services.

247 has him as the #2 overall player, rivals has him as not the 1st, not the 2nd, not the 3rd, not the 4th, but the 5th overall DE.

Personal opinion is 247 does a better job with their early rankings. Don't think rivals puts much effort into the next year. More of a here and now

Just so everyone is prepared, the odds of us landing a kid from Chespaeake, Norfolk, Virginia Beach, etc. is just about zilch unless the kid is a complete exception to the rule.

I will take Lax's word on this.

Let's not do this all year long for every recruit that eliminates us.

As opposed to eliminating kids based on where they are from or whether or not we made their top 10 11.75 months from NSD? I was just pointing out a recent development and making an analogy.

Not saying it can't happen. But it is the extreme exception to the rule that we don't make a bluechipper's top ten and come back and get him. I understand the analogy, but there's going to be a lot of kid's that are going to eliminating us soon as recruiting heats back up, and it's going to get annoying quick if every time we get eliminated someone says "Remember that time with EV..." as though it's likely, or even probable.

Your analogy isn't wrong, but the fact is we have as much of a chance here as ND did after the first half of the NCG.

We end up in it for kids every single year that, at some point, didn't have us in their "top ___". I wouldn't say that it is an extreme exception at all. I would argue that the majority of a kid's top 10 will change if he is giving it to us in Feb. It happens every year.

It also bares (dshans) repeating... we haven't offered this kid yet.

To quote someone else on the board, "Well, that's like your opinion Man". I hear you and I have no intention of making that statement for each of the 100 or so kids whose top "X" we don't make. I am just making the point that this happens quite often and this staff still gets after it just like the US did after the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor.

I agree and I understand that. I actually didn't have a problem with the post, I was just saying I can see it becoming annoying quickly if we do it for every kid that eliminates us. It's just like I said above: Let's not do this with every kid this year.

Unless I am missing a joke somehwere...............Japan....

But back to the topic at hand, I really feel like we are so early in the process that there are far too many variables that could change over the next 2 months. Offers coming in have a way of changing leaderboards and unofficials to campus can be a complete game changer. I am just happy to see our staff not giving up on talented players and quality people just because we were not in the "first cut." We have a lot going for us and people are starting to realize it again.
