I believe only two members of the S.W.C. weren't impaled by the NCAA prior to its implosion. UTx wasn't one of them. Texas boosters payed Davy Crockett's way to the Alamo.

When you bring up current dirty programs... you're not thinking Texas and one isn't thinking Mack Brown, that's where the "someone you wouldn't expect" comes from... and they are a major program... Northwestern, Stanford and others are not

If it is supposedly a "midwestern" team, then why does ScUM think that their poop dont stink? With all the shadyness of the DickRod era, I wouldnt be suprised at all if there was more on them.

I doubt anything comes out any time soon. I'm sure a story will eventually come out some day that a major D1 program was cheating, and the guy that posted this will say that is what he was talking about. But I call bull****. Its like a psychic . . . "you have lost someone close to you, recently, haven't you?" What are the chances that the statement is not true? It doesn't mean you actually know anything.

Just some guy looking for attention. I'll put vBucks on that.

I lived in Houston when the SWC killed itself. While Texas has more talent than any other state they also have more dirty boosters. SMU, A&M, UTx - it's a way of life. The high schools buy players.

Maybe it is ND and they are going to nail us for having two Head coaches on the payroll for to many years in a row.

If it can be any team in the nation, I guess (in order):

Clemson
Texas
TCU
Illinois
South Carolina

If Midwest is part of the clue sign me up for (in order):

Illinois
Wisconsin
Ohio State
Michigan
MSU

In no way do I think it can be us. I don't know... I'm not a booster but I knew a lot of players and am pretty involved with the athletic department now... I just can't see it. Most kids who take money come from a bad background and need it. Who is the last big time recruit we've gotten who also had a bad background and support structure? I can't really think of a single one in recent memory.

Illinois constantly lands stars seemingly out of the blue. From a source who works in Wisconsin sports marketing, I have heard many stories of how back in the day (SMU scandal era) Wisconsin definitely paid players. Ohio State is dirty... that is a no brainer though so that doesn't really fit the surprise thing. Michigan and MSU are my dark horses as they seem like programs you really wouldn't expect so that fits the clue.

This exact same quote is posted on a USC discussion forum I just found without the mention of a "Midwest Team." A lot of the same speculations are on that forum as are on here. Texas is getting A LOT of mentions!

Oregon is a name that has been brought up that is drawing some attention as well.

I am betting this a whole bunch of nothing. It's the off season, people have nothing better to do than spread rumors.

Coming from me, I guarantee that it's Notre Dame and that it will happen.

Aaron Lynch, Stephon Tuitt, Ishaq Williams, and Roby Toma were all given mansions in the Bahamas, cars, diamond rings, backstage passes to a Kanye West concert, a chance to meet Regis Philbin (AKA the Creator of This World), coupons to Bennigan's, and some gumballs.

Golden Tate was given a lifetime supply of Top Pot maple bars.

Smoke in Palo Alto!

I like it.

The NCAA may have uncovered JoePa's autopsy report from 1989. Could be the first use of the NCAA "Hoax" Clause.

I lol'ed for 5 straight minutes while trying to explain to my wife why this is hilarious. Thank you.

Exactly

Where did the Midwest become a factor?

Midwest is a factor because the guy who posted the story via the initial link is the Midwest reporter from Scout. That is why this is just wild and reckless speculation.

On XM College Sports radio this afternoon, they said it was an SEC team and that there will be a panel of national figures (one of whom will be C. Rice) meeting in late March to try to offer solutions to the problems with college sports.
