Happy we won a NY bowl game... not happy this is were ND is, celebrating their biggest bowl win in 20 plus years in the Citrus Bowl...

Maybe a few beers are talking but that's my honest thoughts right now... half relieved, half frustrated.

Citrus Bowl ain’t a bad bowl game thought. While not an NY6 game really talented teams have played in this game in the last several years. I remember a few years ago Bama was in this game in between NC years. Top 5 teams have played in this game a lot. It’s prolly the best bowl outside of the NY6.

It's a big bowl no doubt... I'm very glad our boys won it... don't twist it... just also frustrated taking the last two decades in...

Isn’t it the highest payout bowl outside the NY6?

Coney & Tillery balled out. Gotta think they will declare and be fine with a 3-5 round grade.

Everyone who wants to can declare except Coney. He is what Morgan was supposed to be but never was. If Tillery stayed it would be nice but if he wants to go then go. We have others ready to step up. Getting Drue, Love and Coney to play will be a great base. Need to excess Coleman, Elliot nd sadly Crawford. Like several players who started out hot he disappeared. ESB can leave. If we don’t get his lil bro they can pound sand and come out early like a bunch of Ball bros.

3rd behind Cotton and Orange.

Surprised at the less than high attendance.

Peeps in FL were talking about it. Evidently a lot of folks who gambled and bought tix, well their teams didn't go. SEC fans thought it would be Auburn, and the other tie in was the B10 and a lot of Mich/MichSt/PSU fans gambled. Weather also played a huge factor in the secondary market. Very shitty here in FL this week.

Don't do this to yourself. Surefire way to be permanently miserable.

We just witnessed what is arguably our most successful season since 1993. There was some frustration, but most of it was awesome. Gotta celebrate the good times when they're here. The grass always looks greener elsewhere, and there's no telling what the future holds.

I’ve learned to celebrate the small accomplishments since they were absent during the last three regimes.

ND finally won a game in Florida since 2002

ND finally won on New Years Day since 1994

ND beat a favorite at a neutral site.

ND won a one score game vs a ranked opponent.

Next goals will include winning a NY6 Bowl, making the CFP, putting together back-to-back 10+ win seasons, completing an entire season + bowl without an embarrassing loss.

I would argue that 2012 was our most successful season since 1993. We may have lost the NC game but we were the only undefeated team in FBS and deserved to be in that game. If we had made the playoffs this year but lost either the semis or the finals, it would have still been a successful season. IMO, winning a good bowl game does not equate more success than losing in the NC game.

Getting curb stomped by Miami makes it hard to say it's our best year. At least getting curb stomped by Bama, was by, well, Bama.

Had we had a solid or more than solid QB, would would have been in the CFP.

It still pisses me off thinking about what 2012 could have been. We were so close to playing KSU and winning it all. That was the first season after my Grandpa passed away and it seriously felt like divine intervention at multiple points. I watched the goal line stand against Stanford in person. I remember driving home after the USC game listening to Oregon and KSU both lose. It was pure elation knowing it meant we would be #1, seeing the #1 sign turned on again.

Then the realization set in that it meant we were getting Bama. It all came crashing down.

Yup, hoping you play "not the best team" in the championship game is a homer strategy. It was my strategy as well lol.

Frustrating game, at times, but a win's a win! Nice way to end the season.

It was a pleasure to watch Nelson and McGlinchey. Nelson is very deserving of his many, many praises. One last time, let's watch Nelson dominate a poor unfortunate soul. Here, he jail-sexes LSU's all-american LB:

The ground-level replay should really come with an NC-17 rating.

That's why I said "arguably". I do think there's a case to be made for 2012, but that flawless record was followed by getting embarrassed by 'Bama in the title game, Teo's scandal, Kelly's dalliance with the NFL, and our recruiting class falling short of where it should have finished.

So if we're defining "success" as (1) a good record; (2) a major bowl victory; and (3) an elite recruiting class, then 2012 doesn't make the cut, and we have to go back to 1993 to find the last season that ended as well as this one.

Point being: if you're unhappy now, after the season we just had, you'll never be happy as an ND fan.

Some good momentum for the organization to carry through the New Year. Our guys received some great swag, won a New Year's day game against the SEC and proved they still had something in the tank.

We're sending out a hell of a senior class and welcoming in a ton of talent. We hit double digit wins for the 2nd time in 3 years.

We get to watch the NFL draft and see some of our greatest players go make their money.

2018 has been a great start for Irish fans.

He!ls Bells, guys --- lets be HAPPY!. Geez, what an abundance of things to be happy about! The best OLine. Drue Tranquil. Julian Love and his DB boys. Coney, Martini, and (usually) Morgan. Jerry Tillery. DEs that rush the QB. Bonner and his buddies warrioring it out. Josh running when allowed to by the QB play. TEs catching footballs when allowed to by the QB play. ESB playing ball till the QB play scared the he!l out of him. Elko, Long, Balis ... and, get off his back, Kelly.

... and an underrated underappreciated QB who can play with ice coolness if allowed by the staff (who are understandably hoping for a wunderkinder when they have a gamer right under their nose.)

Cheer cheer for Old Notre Dame --- next year will be ANOTHER good one.

Let's recap..........

1. Played two top SEC teams toe to toe and proved we have size and speed.
2. BK has things in place for us to continue to have the size and speed to continue this.
3. O should be better since OC now has a year of experience under his belt.
4. Really hope Tillery and Coney come back.
5. Schedule next year is tough, but we know we have a QB. You can make "Book" on it.
6. There is reason to be optimistic for next year.

I'm angry. Notre Dame hasn't beaten a major P5 football power for like, at least 15 hours. Boo. Hiss. Fire Kelly and everyone else. We'll never be relevant again. Grumble, grumble.

I just wanted to say congratulations to you guys. This was a heck of a turnaround from last season and you capped it off with a great win for ND. Lots of reasons to be optimistic about next year and the direction you're heading.

As with so many other games - ND seems to be NDs worst enemy. We had horrible offense to start the game - LSU had the bodies to make us one dimensional. TONS of credit to the coaches for shelving Wimbush when it was obvious he couldn't hit the broad side of a barn (still) - even that opening ESB catch felt like Wimbush was only directed to keep it in bounds (which he barely did) and ESB was to go get it. Still kept like 9 in the box on us which led to 3 straight 3 & outs before Book gets the reigns to end the half and puts us on the board.

Less than 100 yards of offense on five series with zero points for Wimbush- next five series for Book - 262 yards and 18 points. You cannot be one dimensional against quality opponents. Don't give me SEC defense shade - they are one dimensional defenses too. Oklahoma hung 48 on UGA. We would have hung 35 on LSU if we didn't screw ourselves for half of our possessions.

VERY excited to see our defense AND offense more complete next year. Elko and Balis will have a Top 25 defense and our offense has a chance to be balanced. Really hope Dex can learn to block or at least they learn to live with it and give him some carries. Would love to see Adams back too - kid is underappreciated by so many despite some silly production.

If Kizer came back we both might still be playing. I don't fault his decision too much but hindsight of landing with the Browns you wonder if he regrets it.

Special teams - yikes. I really can't understand our strategy kicking OR receiving? Same as always but when LSU drops three plus kicker fumbles a snap and has all day to recover and boom one off... WTF? We don't even pretend to pressure the kicker? Tons of room for improvement there. Field position battle first half of this game hopefully opened some eyes on the ineptitude and missed opportunities.

If not for our sadistic schedule I would say we should be favorites with Bama to be playoff locks. Seriously - put our team on most P5 schedules and pencil it out.
