yes and none of those programs had their season canceled as some here suggest is necessary...
I was using those examples as some that show how those not involved still suffer. But as comparisons, there really is none since tattoos and hookers aren't even close in comparison to years and years of raping children. At this point it is unclear who at Penn State was involved or in the know. The interim head coach took over for Sandusky. Did he know anything? There is something more important here than football. I'm sorry if the players worked hard and their season would be gone. Guess, what? It's gone anyway. I guess we can all act like football is important when we watch PSU play, but that's a charade. Maybe sending a message that this matter is serious would change attitudes in this country. Maybe then a HC wouldn't wait 10 days to report his friend, or a grad assitant wouldn't be freaked out by walking in on a local hero doing something more heinous than almost anything. PSU football is dead right now. The NCAA can allow all current players to transfer without penalty. It pales in comparison to what has happened at that school for over a decade.
Penn State needs to start over from scratch to be able to build back this program, if that's even possible.
You know, this story is so horrible, it's tough to even fathom. And even though that's the case, I still see people joking about it or making light of it. Maybe that's the way people deal with it. But part of the problem is that when kids finally get the courage to talk, many adults don't treat it seriously. Many make light of it or are afraid to do anything or think it's not that serious, just "horseplay." Then the abuse goes on. Canceling a football season may start to send the message that this is serious. But that's my take on it.
And with all seriousness, I just hope all parents on this board will be proactive about this problem. There are things we can do to protect our kids. darkness2light.org is a good place to start.
