Yeah, I was explicitly stating they should've been in the playoffs. They've average about the 5th best class over those 4 years and their #2 class are now seniors, their #10 class juniors, etc.

They've had loads of talent and I rarely remember them actually challenging for a playoff spot because they haven't won the pac-12.

They finished 3rd in the country in 2016, and won the PAC 12 last year with regular season losses to us and by 3 on a Friday night game at Wazzu. They may not have “challenged for a playoff spot” because in both seasons they lost early instead of late. But they’ve been as close to a playoff team as you can get without quite making it.

with Under Armour's(trash) financial issues, they decided to back out of their 2016 MLB apparel agreement. Saves them 45-50 million dollars.

Damn, has it been a difficult two years for UA. On a positive note, stock has seemed to put in a long term bottom. Should see better days ahead.

You don't like their stuff? I think they've done much better with apparel for ND than Adidas ever did.

He probably has the same issue with it I have: too expensive. The average fan doesn't want to spent $32+ dollars for a shirt for your kids, especially if you have multiple kids. Fortunately Champion stuff is still there at almost half the price, as long as they still have the size you need.

Yeah I can see that, good point. It is better though like I said than Adidas, but yeah price point can turn people off.

Out of all the gear I've bought over the years (I'm in my 40s), the Champion stuff lasted the longest. My favorite sweatshirt is still a 1/4 zip Champion that's probably 10+ years old, and has aged terrifically. I do have an UA fleece sweatshirt that I love, but it's already showing a little wear while being only a couple years old... I do have some Adidas Ts that have held up. The UA Ts and polos I have are the dry fit stuff and not the most durable.

Holmes is not currently on the team but the door isn't closed on a return. There are conditions that need to be met. Williams also has some stuff behind the scenes that needs to be worked out.

Idk if its the optomist in me, but sounds like...

CJ Holmes - If they have room (salary cap quote from video), if he meets requirements come July 2nd court hearing, then he could be back.

Te'von Coney - Gets his charges taken care of in court and then ready to go for fall camp. Seems like buttoning up some legal issues, but not some negative new things, but not positive on that

Dexter Williams - definitely sounds like he's not getting kicked off the team and maybe he'll be suspended for 4 games or not.

Obviously nothing definitive, but usually the summer is a time to hear about tons of transfers, medicals, suspensions and issues and they seem to be working out okay so far. I'm really rooting for some good news in the RB room, they need it.

If it was last year that would be Q. This year? Tillery? Tranquill? But it looks more like Big Tommy.

good freebie

#8 in Steele's top 25

Steele: "The Irish were my No. 1 most improved team last year and went from 4-8 to No. 3 in the country at one point, finishing 10-3. They take the next step as my No. 1 surprise team this year. Notre Dame has two veteran QBs, my No. 22 RB, No. 8 OL, No. 21 DL, No. 13 LB and No. 17 DB units. They move up from No. 84 to No. 51 on my experience chart. The Irish do not have an easy schedule, but could be favored in their toughest games at Virginia Tech, Northwestern and USC. They learned how to win last year and are ready for the next step."

247Sports take: Sounds like Steele likes Notre Dame as a darkhorse final four team, doesn't it? Quarterback Brandon Wimbush is the ultimate wild-card for a group with impressive talent on both sides. If he plays well, starting with a confidence-building win over Michigan in the opener, the sky is the limit for Brian Kelly's team this fall.

A few freshman updates: Irish Illustrated Podcast: What If?

Shayne Simon is VERY VERY good. Jurkovec has been very good overall and a leader. Bauer and Griffith have impressed on the field. Lamb likely to red-shirt.

I would love to see Griffith or Allen really step up come fall camp and get into a rotation at safety early and often. Coleman is serviceable, but not a game breaker, and we will see about Gillman. Griffith already looks the part from the pictures and videos I've seen in the Spring; can't wait to see how he looks after an off season with Balis as well.

I think it's a given HG will be solidly in the rotation. AG/HG combo should be bad ass.

Since we're hearing early reports are that Shayne Simon is the real deal holyfield, should we start hoping he's the rover? Simon, Tranquil and Coney sound like a crazy good lineup, coupled with our front four and Love/Pride combo and hopefully an upgrade at safety....

STOP IT! I'm starting to get excited and that's bad for my health.
