A foot of snow expected in the northern Detroit area.

We have had about 5 inches fall since I've been sitting at my desk. Biggest snow flakes I have seen. Looking to have a falling rate of 1 inch/hr tonight. State of Michigan has closed.

State of Michigan has closed because they are weak. The rest of us are still at work.

They need to collect all that snow, melt it, and send it to Flint.

Pffft, Ohio can go from 30 to 80 in the span of 12 hours.

Yep, you know how the Midwest works.

Ex. 100% chance of rain tomorrow. Tomorrow comes and it's sunny and 85, no rain in sight. Unfortunately, it usually works the other way around.

Yup, the southwest's "winter" happens from June to August.
I didn't mind it that much though.
Golf courses were empty in the afternoon!

76 today and 74 tomorrow.

I only mention this because starting about two weeks ago I noticed a subtle change in the weather. Usually we have a strong marine climate here. Read humidity.

A couple of Tuesdays ago, Holy Testicle Tuesday, to be exact, we registered 28 percent humidity! That never happens here (other than the winter.) That is like desert southwest.

Luckily I put off planting my grass seed (1/3 acre worth, just a part of the yard), and am doing it this morning. Point is, it was a wise choice. We have had a couple of humid days to punctuate things, but it has been low to mid eighties, with sun, and breeze, with very low humidity. I have been waiting for the smog to roll in! I think we got your SoCAL weather this spring! And we ain't giving it back!

I guess she doesn't know it's been hot everywhere. The humidity has been the culprit this year. Haven't had much of a break from it most of the summer.

I don't remember the last time we have even gotten anywhere close to the amount of rain we got yesterday. It started around 2:00 and it seemed to be a steady pour for at least 12 hours. Several businesses are closed today becuase their parking lots are flooded. We got about 7.5 inches of rain and some neighboring cities had 10 inches.

It was like the Clemson game all over again!

This was the first time we have had rain pretty much all month. The farmers were really giving their field sprinklers a workout until yesterday.

Just because I'm a weather dork, Saturday, September 13, 2008 was the last time South Bend got this much rain. Or almost this much, about 7 inches in 24 hours. The average for South Bend in September is around 3".

The crazy thing is that yesterday we got that much in half the time. Our August average is about 8 inches and we almost met that average in one day.

24 hrs is just the reporting period. It didn't fall evenly over that time span.

The wind has constantly been blowing 25-30 mph with gusts over 40 since late Monday morning in South Dakota. Supposed to go through today as well.
