Interview on II Mathias admits that he might not have been healthy last year.

“It makes a difference,” Farley said. “I don’t really want to talk about last year, it has nothing to do with this year. But I’m definitely feeling a lot better this year.”

First I have heard of this. They must have had him playing through some injury that nobody wants to talk about.

He may be "feeling better" because he's playing better.

Kinda like Neon Deion's reasoning for dressing well.

Go figure. Never would have crossed my mind.

Pfft. Just another Farley apologist investing phantom injuries to justify his crappy performance. We saw the real Matthias in 2013; 2012 was just a fluke, or something.

Because reasons.

So you believe his play this year will be like last year's... not 2012's?

That will be interesting to follow.

Did you go to one of the game watch's in Scottsdale for the Michigan game? Great turnout at the Plaza Resort... The TV's and sound are top notch since the remodel.

Honestly think a lot of his issues last year were confidence-related. He almost like he was expecting to make mistakes out there.

Two very big momentum plays this season already. The pick against Rice and then the big TFL against Michigan on their first drive to force a 3rd and long.

Watch the way he is attacking ball carriers this year versus last year he would wait and stand in front of them until they ran around him. I don't think it was mental, maybe mentally he knew something would be painful if he attacked the ball carrier. Not the quote above but his play has convinced me more than ever that something was wrong but we needed bodies out there that knew what they were doing so Farley suited up.

I'm sure you already know this but you hear stories of guys (or gals) who play hurt in various sports and usually upon their return, they aren't the same right away because of the mental hurdle they face despite being recovered.

No excuse for his butt slide against Stanford.

Yes huh. Because of his shoulder/elbow/wrist/hip/knee that was dislocated, dismembered and then put back on so he could play.

He is a walking warrior because no football player in the history of the world has ever played with an injury.

His buttslide was more for funzies because 2012 Farley was preparing for his emergence this year.

Because Reesus.

**To be clear, I'm just making fun of all the people gloating. I was/am a Farley doubter but he's kept my mouth firmly shut with his play and I'm very, very happy about that.

Skepticism was justified. If you read my posts defending him, even I hedged quite a bit.

I'm mostly poking fun at those who definitively stated that there was no injury, such a thing was never confirmed, if it had happened we'd have heard, and that anyone who thinks otherwise is an irrational Farley apologist.

Understood, I'm really just poking fun. I'm fairly certain I have a bet with someone over Farley's play this year and I'm definitely losing right now.

If every player I doubted played like Farley we'd be the happiest forum on the webz.

He's going to make mistakes again.

Then what?

I've met so many bipolar fans, it's ridiculous.

It's high or low. It's praise or vitriol.

Call it koolaid chugging all you want ...

Standing up for your team is not about being an apologist for any player.

It's about not mocking the development of the players on the team you root for, especially as an internet hardass from behind a keyboard.

That doesn't make sense to me...

Farley has been playing great, AND he will fail again.

But the young man is ND.

Cheer him on through the inevitable damn faults that arise.

Same goes for all those guys.

I'm having fun with it too. I would've used italics but I'm tired of italics. Someone should know if I'm serious or just having fun.

People who think this 100% means he's talking about the mystery injury were going to hear that no matter what he said. He maybe indirectly talking about an injury, but this doesn't add an ounce of clarity IMO.

He could be feeling better about the scheme, feeling better about his new position, feeling better about being on a team that has a chance to win, feeling better because he's off to a hot start, got over an ex GF, it could be anything.

I thought he played great vs. Michigan and poorly vs. Rice. I'm not anointing the 'GAIII has turned the corner' theory just yet.

I don't think anyone has said there definitely was no injury. I do not believe he ever had a shoulder injury, but I'm not saying it's impossible. Just unlikely considering it's never been mentioned, even when BK was apologizing for Farley's 2013 play after the season.

It goes both ways, and many more have said he definitely was injured, which is also unknown.

They specifically asked him the question and that was his response.

This is from the beginning of the II article from their interview with him.

The reasons behind the rebirth of Matthias Farley are multiple.

The senior has settled into a specific position after playing three others during his Irish career. Notre Dame’s nickel back finally has a defensive coordinator who knows what to do with him. And the veteran has a natural intellect that’s put him ahead of the curve within Brian VanGorder’s whirling dervish of a scheme.

And Farley is healthy.

Finally, after ducking and denying all last season, Farley admitted this week that he played hurt much of last season. He didn’t want to get into specifics, but he acknowledged what was painfully obvious a year ago when his tackling skills deserted him.

“It makes a difference,” Farley said. “I don’t really want to talk about last year, it has nothing to do with this year. But I’m definitely feeling a lot better this year.”

Why didn't you say that from the beginning? Discussion over.
