We are only supposed to get 1-8 inched depending on which weather guy is talking. Bring it on white means green. $$

It occurs to me that "Thundersnow" would be a badass name for a super villain.

I can deal with the two feet of snow.. It's the addition of a power outage that bothers me. There is no gas line on my block so I was never able to make the conversion from oil.

I'm basically just stocking up on firewood, batteries and candles.

Stay safe all my fellow northeastern-ers.

Same situation for me. I have a three month old so keeping at least one room above 60 will be priority one.

Stay safe out there, fellas.

This may be a good time to peruse the "Prepper" thread. When we talk about preparation in that thread, it's not about zombie apocalypse. The single most common scenario we prepare for is Level 1 situations like power grid failure during massive storms. Make sure to store some water, get your firewood together and get plenty of extra gasoline. Be well.

This isn't snow. This is dangerous.

That moment when you show up to work and see an e-mail from your boss telling everyone to stay home.

Yeah, I realize what you are getting ready to get hit with is dangerous. Hope you can stay warm through it. That's what I miss.

Be safe.

I think we'll get a better idea of how much we can expect in the next 6-8 hours.

The GFS weather model's last run ticked the storm a little more east, which means less snow for the NYC/Northern NJ area. Along the Connecticut coastline up to Boston is not looking very good however. The NAM and Euro have the storm a little more west, which gets more snow for the NYC metro area. Still bad for those in coastal CT and Boston.

Stay safe everyone. I'll post another update later in the afternoon when the models are run again.

Wasn't he a character in Rocky III?

As long as the power is on, you'll be in good shape. If you have an outage hopefully it doesn't last long. Lots of blankets for that little one Wiz.

To add, if your power goes out and you have a gas stove, you can use it as a limited heat source by turning it on and simply opening the oven door. That paired with a stoked fireplace (preferably a wood stove, but fireplaces are more common) can save the day. Also, you can boil water on the top and fill Nalgene bottles to hold on to and stay warm.

Reminds me of an outage a number of years back. My wife suggested we use the oven to help warm the house until I reminded her we're total electric! lol

I'll be bunkered down. 18-24" of snow plus heavy winds? Yup it'll be an interesting 36 hours. Called off work for tomorrow already, we'll see what happens for Wed.

All non-essential personnel (i.e. those of us who don't make TV happen) have been instructed to work remotely tomorrow with normal business to resume Wednesday.
