You don't think, just maybe, Kelly deserves a tiny bit of the blame for recruiting some of these guys over the years? Or, maybe his approach to discipline could use improvement? Not seeing the victim angle

Come on man really? Maybe he should be responsible for you posting this absurd comment. Not one of these kids was in an ounce of trouble during or before their recruitment to ND. Honestly how would Kelly or anyone else on the staff know this was going to happen?

I don't think I'm out of line here saying that this is the worst post in the thread, unless Kelly was in the car with them he isn't responsible for these KIDS actions.

Who owns the gun? That would clarify it some. If it is stolen, that's a whole other issue. Also, was the stuff just laying out or in plain view? That should impact how this is handled.

The 1-2 guys who stuff that was just need to own up. Why ruin 4-5 other guys lives. I get the no snitch code amongst young guys, but it should go both ways.

Feel better about the program than I have in years. SEC type arrests hopefully will equate to SEC type success. Finally getting away from those silly academic suspensions and going bit-time! Playoffs here we come!

Don't quote me on this, but I think I remember from law school that possession in a car = within arm's reach. Basically if your in the passenger seat and the contraband is under the driver's seat, you can get charged with possession. Rule of thumb, put it in the trunk and lock it.

Is that only the case if no one comes forward and claims responsibility? What if one guy says the gun and weed was his?

Not sure if it's been posted, but this is at least a small sigh of relief...

I cannot fathom the lack of brains on these boys.

You play for Notre Dame. Millions of people would kill for this opportunity. You get to play football in front of 80k people and get an education you probably were not going to get otherwise. You have the rest of your life to get high.

I don't want them on the team, I hope the captains ask for their dismissal and if they don't, I hope BK tells them they are done. If BK doesn't, I hope the university does.

Good thing we don't have an established, leader of a QB that the team can look to to move us forward. Nothing like waffling on top of a major hit to the team like this. Name Malik or kizer the starter and let's get the fucking train moving forward.

I've never disliked BK before but shit like this is why you choose a leader of the team and move forward.

You're a moron.

This also most likely means that the amount of weed was not of significant quantity to elevate the weapons charge to felony. But that's just my tv law opinion.

Id say maybe 2-4 games for the 5 and then probably expulsion for Butler.

Can we just go full SEC and do a "player vote" to see if they should be suspended?

You can excuse weed and gun possession or whatever all you want, but you can't excuse stupidity.

That'd be my guess. The reason I'm so sick is that I'd have loved to grow up with their athletic potential. I mean, I'm short, slow and of small stature. I quite literally had almost no chance to play D1 sports.

I really hope these guys figure out how much better their life can be, if they just make good decisions instead of defaulting to the easiest behavior.
