In general, I consider myself to be a supporter of the feminist cause insofar as women want to be treated fairly and equally. I think we all have mothers, daughters, wives or girlfriends and recognize that we want them to have opportunities in their lives and the ability to feel safe and not objectified or harassed. I don't think this is really a radical position, and if it bothers some people for being too progressive, so be it. But what kills me is that people like this woman would basically consider me to be more enemy than friend in her feminist crusade because her point of view is so incredibly radical and, as a result, nonsensical. And the shame of it is that this type of crazy behavior is associated with "feminism," which sets a pretty simple and fair idea back decades.
I do consider myself to be left of center on social issues, because I want to live in a society where everyone is accepted and included. That is just my basic moral and ethical belief. But so many of these radical social crusaders are their own worst enemies. I'd say the same thing about people on the extreme left on issues such as race and sexual identification, too. Something has to happen where we can have common sense discussions about these topics without the vile perspectives of those on the far left and far right, who are unfortunately the people most interested and tuned into the issues.
