Man, I just love the vibe there. Best place I've ever been.

You love the "vibe"of Vegas? Haha... That town doesn't have a "vibe". It's a town without a soul. It's identity is based on excess and sin. Whores, drugs, booze and gambling are its draw. That's it... A horrible town filled with horrible people. Hotter than fuck too.

Hate that town.

Currently in the Bay Area visiting the girlfriend. Have to say that San Francisco is a beautiful city. It had a much more laid back feel than any of the other cities I have been to. Didn't really do much in San Fran, but would definitely like to explore more some day.

It's really more of a European city

Not a fan of city-living in general. Give me something provincial, preferably in northern Arizona, any day.

But I did enjoy Florence, Italy.

I'm terrified of cities. I felt safe in San Francisco, though.

USA: New York and Nashville. New Orleans and Miami are great too.

Rest of World: Barcelona

gk gets it.

I love Nashville. I really like L.A. (Venice/Santa Monica are tops for me, but I also like places like Pasadena, downtown, and some of the southern LA/OC beaches). Dallas is great and so is Houston. In fact, Texas/OU weekend and St. Patrick's Day weekend in Dallas are phenomenal weekends on their own. Chicago is great. Louisville is actually a great city as well. It's still a Southern city in most respects, but tons of Catholics there, so bars, drinking, and festiveness is aplenty. Tahoe is great. Denver is pretty cool. D.C./Alexandria are great for history and single life in your 20's. I've had great times in Atlanta, but it's not high on my list of places to visit.

A couple places that I was only "meh" on were San Francisco and Charleston. They just didn't do much for me. I actually did like Menlo Park/Palo Alto south of San Fran better than San Fran itself.

Of course the quality of visit and enjoyment had are influenced by so many factors (work, wedding, friends, budget, etc), I think it's sometimes hard for us to give truly objective feedback.

Some honorable mention locations from me: Bucksnort, TN, Needmore, AR, Blue Ball, AR, Big Bone Lick, KY

Lol Whiskey that is not a city. It's a living museum.

Incidentally, have you ever read Mark Twain on Florence? My favorite is when he makes fun of the Arno as a "great historical creek" that would "be a very plausible river if they would only pump some water into it." It ain't the Mississippi, I guess.

24 - The Innocents Abroad - Mark Twain (1835-1910)

Not that I really disagree with you, I guess. I too loved Florence when I was there.

My vote too. Funny enough, whenever I read one of your posts, I read it in the voice of my buddy who still lives there.

Agreed with Emcee though I'd extend that to practically all of Italy. One giant museum.

How does Florence, Italy compare to Florence, Alabama? Comparable?

San Diego... The Gas Lamp, Old Town, PERFECT Weather, fantastic food and culture... I haven't really enjoyed many other major cities.

Austin was great too in fairness... but for the most part I dislike most major cities I've been to... Denver, LA, St Louis and San Fran. to name a few...

So true on San Diego.

San Diego and Charleston are my two favorite US cities. I'm also a big fan of San Francisco (overrated by people who love there), Chicago (overrated by people who live there), DC (see Chicago and San Fran), and Portland.

Haters guide to major cities:
NYC is literally the worst city in the country. Worst people, smells awful, dirty, expensive as all hell, and poor weather. Any food that is decent costs you a full paycheck and you have to know a guy to get into the place. And you better like paying $12 for a beer. Also, ugly populous.

Los Angeles is the spread out, warmer version of NYC. What a miserable shithole.

Baltimore is great. Truly awesome place. And then you get shot and/or robbed.

Philly. No explanation necessary. Only major city where it's own residents know it sucks and admit it.

Really enjoy Chicago as a big city, but I'd move to Nashville tomorrow.

Agreed.

Love living in Chicago but I'm getting tired of the winters. Nashville is a great place to visit and it seems like it would be a nice place to live.

Chicago >

Rome is a shithole, minus all the history I wouldn't be caught dead in that city again.

You just have to know where to go in NYC. I agree it's not the greatest place for a tourist in terms of bang for buck but there are so many places people don't know about that are amazing and reasonably priced. Also a ton of FREE things to do that you can't find in other cities.

As far as your comment about our ladies....I've never heard anyone say that in my entire life. The sheer number of women makes it almost impossible not to spot a dime every 5 minutes.

The joke is on you man. Charleston is not a big city. Unless of course you mean Charleston, WV then I agree....

haha, nice... I have not been to NYC but you can basically insert San Fran. for NYC in your post and that's how I felt... stank, dirty, and expensive. I was fully prepared to encounter douchey people just on reputation... they managed surpass any of my worst expectations... I don't think I'll ever go back if i can manage it.

I have heard nothing but wonderful things about Charleston and Savannah... one thing that concerns me is I'm in an inter-racial marriage and most of my close friends are black. I think it was Cack that warned me about being out in the open with either in those areas.

I do have to make a point to make it to Chicago, never been... sounds great though...

For me, San Diego is it.

I think Nashville was one of the best kept secrets in America (outside of music) for a while. Now many people my age (28) are going there for bachelor and bachelorette parties. I've heard nothing but praise for the city.

Outside of that I'd love to plop my ass on a beach in San Diego one day. I found Boston, NYC, and LA to be a lot more trouble than they're worth.

Charlotte is not major by any stretch but it's so comfortable. It's like walking into main street of a small town but with bigger buildings. Tons of fine ladies also.

If you are where you're supposed to be and it's one of those 20 days a year when it's mid 70's and not raining... Chicago is the best big city in the world... period. Other North American cities on the list: Boston, New Orleans, Montreal, Charleston, San Diego, San Fran. and of course one trip to NYC and DC are bucket list destinations just like Rome, Athens and Jerusalem.

If you are a weather guy like me the choice is simple... From Halloween to Easter in Scottsdale, AZ, summers in south OC and a place on the lake in Long Beach, IN to get back home and catch the Irish. As long as there is a Portillo's within 30 minutes... I'm good.

Back to San Diego... If Vista, CA was nicer, I'd live there full-time. Best weather on the planet.
