If people didn't like the Point/Counterpoint format (PTI excluded) and truly yearned for the ESPN of old, wouldn't ESPNews beat those shows head to head?
IDK if it's "walter cronkite" that anyone is yearning for here... like I stated earlier you can have personalities and flair without it being a cesspool... Dan Patrick's show is a great example... if they have a disagreement it's not obviously contrived for ratings... they don't troll fan bases in shallow and see through attempts... it isn't sensationalism... and it works well, even though I'd argue even they don't cover sports enough (they basically cover golf, football and NBA) but that's just my tastes on that.
I don't even know if it's JUST the point -counter point of espn... it's the clear cynically contrived way it's put out.
