No kidding. I wouldn't wish being a mod on anybody.

I've always said that I am against mods being part of debates. I feel like they are suppose to be the police, and police shouldn't participate in the riot, nor incite one. All of these guys are great people that have lively debate that enrich the site. So I am personally sad that these guys will either not participate in lively debate, or do so to their detriment. You all have a thankless and diffiicult job ahead of you.

You guys are all my homies. All of you becoming mods is kinda bittersweet for me. Congrats, I guess.

PS - Did any mods drop the position, or did we just add an additional 3?

Mods are just like the rest of you guys, they just carry a bigger stick with them, but metaphorically speaking and literally speaking (it's a curse that I've had to live with my whole life). So I never got the stance that we shouldn't engage in discussions...I would have never been a mod if it meant that. I always admit when i take it too far (as I've been wont to do), but it's am art not a science and we're just trying our best, really. But debate is what makes a message board fun, and I enjoy being a part of it. Like in this debate, it's great, and I'm right and you're wrong, so that makes it even more fun for me!

Just kidding...we just disagree on this one. It's all good.

As for the newbies, welcome aboard! (you morons!!!!!!!!! bwahahahahahahaha...remember when everyone loved you? yeah, take a picture of that moment LOL). Just kidding...you'll do great things and you'll still be liked by all. Have at it!

You know I got mad love for you, homie. But as you know, I completely disagree with you. I'm not saying that mods shouldn't be able to enjoy the site too, but I don't think that they should take part in, instigate or escalate arguments on the site. If stopping that kind of stuff is part of the job description, then they shouldn't get a free pass to be part of the problem.

No one has to debate, argue and cause ruckus to enjoy the site. I don't think guys like OMM, Umphreak and Tadman have ever gotten into an argument ever on here. I just think mods should take note from those guys. Because it's hard to respect the authority of the cops if they are the criminals (for lack of a better analogy, y'all know I think of you as upstanding dudes).

We can agree to disagree... because well.... you are the one with the banhammer.

Wouldn't it be nice if everyone took note of those guys? I guess I just don't understand why it is so much to ask for people to simply have respect for one another on a site where we all share a common interest in a University that we all trumpet as a beacon for the "right way to do things" in the NCAA landscape (and rightly so).

It is clear that in one form or another we are all enamored with Notre Dame for what it stands for at its' core, its' mission statement if you will. Why would a message board created and honed for that one particular University not want to be held to the higher standard that we ourselves say we should be put to?

There is no way that so many individuals from so many backgrounds, upbringings, etc., can all see eye to eye on every matter - it is simply impossible. But there is absolutely no need at all, in my eyes, for this "against the man" rationale that springs up from time to time against those who were valued members who simply were asked to make sure the site continued to grow and thrive.

From the amount of time I have spent here and from my own personal interactions, every single mod here is truly a great individual who truly cares about Notre Dame and its' fans. By taking up a modship (never requested), they sacrifice their own precious time to deal with bots, trolls, off days, etc., (most of which the members on here don't even have to see) to make sure that EVERY SINGLE ND FAN on here has an enjoyable experience.

There are quite a few individuals on this forum that have gotten to know me decently well over the past couple years, and know that I am not a man to start a quarrel with anyone where it can be avoided. But I simply feel that with this new batch of moderators there hopefully can be a change by some of the core membership of Irish Envy towards understanding that these moderators are simply valued members who sacrifice to help you improve your IE experience daily, thanklessly.

No one here is perfect, not even close. But there is a reason this site has a reputation as being the best Notre Dame forum, and we all want to keep it that way. I know I speak for every single mod when I say that goal is our primary reason for doing what we are asked to do, despite any ill-recieived feedback that may occur.

I only ask that our core members keep these things in mind. There are always going to be tough (maybe drunk lol) nights, arguments, etc., but as long as those people who care about the ideals Notre Dame instills in its' students respect one another on this forum while having great discussions on the University, team, depth chart or anything else, it is going to make for an even better site going forward.

Sorry for the soliloquy gents, I guess January 7th can't come soon enough.

- Kevin

Blah, blah, blah-- I still haven't forgiven you for letting it slip that you're like Old Man Mike's age :geeza2:

Seriously though, I'm not that much younger than you. I guess I just built this fantasy where you, Johnny, HCTI, Whiskey, Wooly, ACamp, myself, and some others were all the same age. Maybe even born on the exact same day. Perhaps in the same hospital...at the same moment. Hell, a few of us may have even had a parent or two in common. Are any of us related??? Brothers?? Dad?? Mom?? Regardless, Beau-- you'll always be our little sister that we look out for and keep the scallywag dudes away from. :naughty:

Anyway, I gotta run-- I think there's something stuck in my eye...

Here's the thing;

1- I have to look for and peck the key to the letter in the word in the message of what I want to say.

2- After much time ( my wpm = words per month, not words per minute), I have to proof read then print my message.

3- Then I have to roll it up, put it on the pigeon and send it to the General Store.

4- As the GS processes the pigeons, they verify the senders then wait for the "party line" to clear.

5- After they dial into this internet thingee, they have to re-type my message for posting.

6- After an appropriate waiting period, the General Store will print responses and send the pigeon/s back.

Thus, many arguments have ended and new ones started before I can kick somebody's arse.

When we get electricity and phones, you bi*&#es better look out!

Besides, if we all agreed this would be a pretty boring place.

Thanks Wooly......

I demand that Beau bans Hog.

After that we can all shun Beau for IE awards...
unless of course he uses the clever strategy of banning everybody else and takes all of the awards himself.

I think it's interesting that most of the talk about Mods has to do with banning people.?

I congratulate each of you and thank you in advance for working while I'm having fun.

I like GITF' s posts for all of the great recruiting info and of course the awards.

Beau is an awesome all around contributor.

Whiskey and his stats are phenomenal.

Thanks & Good luck guys!
