Now Schiano is considering suing....
Note from a Penn State Trustee on Schiano:
What TN fans did to Schiano is almost criminal.
If I'm Kiffin, I'm not sure I would want the Tennessee job, unless all I cared about was the money.
Right now there appears to be a strong movement of Vol fans embracing the thought of Kiffin returning. This has very little to do with what Lane has done as a head coach. It's primarily because Vol fans are desperate. The desperate fan tells himself I can overlook how Lane screwed us over the first time. The problem is that if Lane struggles at all in year 1 and 2 those same fans that convinced themselves that they could overlook Lane's past transgressions, will turn on him so fast that it will make his head spin.
I don't know if the Tennessee administration would give him a short leash, but I can almost guarantee you that the Vol fan base will.
I hope all the good options turn Tennessee down.
The Vol fans around me were sure they were going to get Mullen or Kelly. They believe Tennessee is a top 5 job if not higher. At the club last night, many were highly upset that both were 'wiffed' on and that Schiano was 'the last resort'. When Kiffin was brought up, many were pissed that the name even came up.
Agree (I have a few UT buddies).
None of them want Lame Kitten back. I mean, TN did actually name a waste plant after Kiffin lol...
I'm more practical. Lane did well (recruiting and on the field) when at UT. If Lane would be someone that is committed to TN, I think he could do well there. I just don't see Lane ever being committed to anything but himself.
Interesting scenario if Tennessee does hire Kiffin.
Does Tennessee allow him to bring Kendal Briles with him to be the OC at Tennessee. If they did, it would seem like it would be a PR disaster, given what has happened with Schiano already.
Tennessee is in 'almost' the same conundrum Notre Dame is in (or the other way around however you look at it). Not only is the coach a 'hot-topic', but the AD (John Currie) is also under some fire. What a lot of people may not know is, Peyton Manning's fingerprints were all over the Schiano hire. Manning thought he was the best decision available out there for a coach.
What I meant about Currie is, although he hasn't been there long, his decisions of late have been questionable at best. Much like Swarbrick, I believe it is time to 'clean the slate' if you will at ND.
Father of Jarrett Guarantano throwing some shade at the Vol fans.

Go to the pod-casts, listen to Jimmy Hyams (about 20 minutes long) start at the 15 minute mark and he explains Peyton's involvement. Can't believe after Peyton and Schiano's history Peyton endorsed him.
Schiano should get a few bucks out of this.
Personally not sure how good of a head coach he could be. Started to turn some things around and Rutgers, but then plateaued.
Radio station was speaking of this tweet this morning. Fair tweet I believe.

Thanks for the link. Will give it a listen. My pre-listen opinion is that it's a good thing to have Manning's hands in this mix. He is a shrewd business man, and is as close to a football god to Vol fans as there gets.
The whole Schiano thing just gives me a sick feeling. Even if the story is correct, he's the one that actually reported the bad stuff. Sure you can second guess him and say he should have done more, but we don't even know if this hearsay is even true. It's not like there's any allegation that he tried to cover things up, or was part of the scheming to my knowledge. If TN backing out is because a few uninformed PC snowflake shitheads, it's weak sauce IMO. The guy does not need for his career to constantly get hijacked due to the guilty by association narrative.
How exactly was Schiano damaged here? Financially, I mean.
Did he turn down other jobs for Tennessee that have since been filled? Cut ties with OSU? Yes his name was sullied, perhaps inappropriately, by an internet mob but you can’t very well sue them. Tennessee bungled it royally but the university isn’t who dragged his name through the mud. He has all sorts of people emerging to vouch for him now should he want to pursue other head gigs. And he still has his job as DC of the Buckeyes. In two weeks this’ll be an afterthought and he’ll be fine.
Tennessee, OTOH, is screwed.

Just as I posted right before you, I believe the tweet to be fair. If people can publicly demean someone on something they were not convicted or even tried for, how can anyone get a fair 'shake'? And will the kids that are actually playing under that coach have any say.
I believe what this has done - put a negative seed in any future coach that want to go or does go to TN to coach. "Who runs this place? The AD or the fan-base?"

It's neither the AD or fanbase. It's the SJWs who are in control.... My buddies (UT grads) were perfectly fine with Schiano (although they thought they should have gotten a few other guys).
No way Gundy leaves Oklahoma State is there?

Supposedly they would offer enough to double his current pay. Depends on how happy he is at Ok St.
