Nobody is looking at them for offering joke classes for the better part of 20 years to athletes. They're not under any investigation over potentially losing their school accreditation. No players have been murdering and raping other players and students. Players aren't using and selling cocaine and anabolic steroids. There's no investigation by the FBI over a coach sexually molesting minors. The team isn't hemorrhaging money. The school isn't on the verge of shutting down the football program.
Bringing in a has-been, retread from the past to steady a non-sinking ship for a couple years reeks of desperation. Not only is there a huge chance of failure, but where do they go from there? How does Fulmer even recruit players under those circumstances? Why give players, alumni, boosters, recruits, media, supporters, and every casual college football fan in the world the impression that tennessee football is on the verge of collapse?
