it is the most logical move right now. They have so many holes

They do need to fill a lot of holes so getting draft picks will certainly help...

The amount they has to eat on the Allen deal was ridiculous. But sometimes it's what's best for the franchise.

...But I never trust the Bears office to have a good draft.

This team is a disaster and you could see it coming 3 or 4 years ago (maybe even longer).

Not to be a Debbie Downer but this is all scarily familiar being a former Buc fan. The Glazers failed to replace people over a few seasons and also failed to re-sign veteran that Dungy brought in. They have yet to recover losing all of the integral parts that Dungy and McKay built. The Glazers also bowed to Gruden over McKay allowing him to go on to the Falcons. Sometimes you don't know what you have till its gone.

Bear's are officially on the clock.

which means we'll draft hackenburg and ruin his and the organization's future.

words cannot describe the level of bad that they are right now.

I absolutely hate taking a QB with the first pick unless it's a "Can't Miss" prospect like Luck. There's always hype around the top QBs in the draft because it's the most important position. However, that hype isn't always justified and is sometimes by default. If the Bears end up with the #1 pick, I'd trade down for more picks and totally overhaul the roster.

Agreed.

just find a crafty vet to take the QB job that doesn't turn it over while the growing pains are experienced....there's always someone desperate to move up

I hear there's a pretty good tackle and linebacker coming out of Notre Dame I'd like to see on the Bears.

Curious, what do Bears fans think of seeing Ditka wearing a packers sweater in that new commerical?

I thought out it and part of me would be insane with anger if say, Hanford Dixon, did some spot where he wore Steelers gear... So I had to ask...

Makes me sick to my stomach. Ditka can go F- himself for signing up for that crap.

One of my favorite memories is of when I went to the 2013 training camp in Bourbonnais. My friends I were walking out after the practice and got to see multiple Pro Bowlers all sitting on a cart (Marshall, Tillman, Briggs, and Forte) all sitting on the carts waiting for a gate to open. My friends and I were shocked to be this close and none of those pansies managed to do anything so I did the only thing I could and waved and said hi. I kept waving until all the players looked over and laughed and waved back. Damn, I'll miss Forte.

I worked in the Soldier Field suites last season, his family was always extremely nice and very polite. Going to miss seeing 22 in blue and orange.

Not happy about this.

Sometimes, players need to retire with their team. This is one of those times. In all the years since the Bears invented pro football, only one guy did it better over his career for the blue and orange. Screw Virginia and her change purse full of man hole covers she inherited from her Dad.

It's time to sell the team to Rocky Wirtz and Jerry Reinsdorf. They've won 10 championships since the McCaskey's last got lucky when Finks, Tobin and Vanisi built a winner on a budget.

Thanks for the effort #22. Nothing wrong with being next to the greatest of all time in both the record books and the hearts of every Bear fan under 60.

I hope you win a Super Bowl at your next stop.

Id take Rocky in a heartbeat but hard pass on Reinsdorf.

Reinsdorf can go play in traffic. He's checked out on the Bulls and Sox after he got his rings.

I don't necessarily hate moving on from Forte. I get the idea that you want your long-time premier back to retire a Bear, but clearly Forte has some years left and wants to get paid a good amount, while the Bears are pretty well set at RB with Langford and Carey. The Bears need to focus on building the team, because it's far from a finished product. I'll take winning over overblown retirement ceremonies. I'll miss 22 though.

Pass on Reinsdorf? 7 titles in the past 25 years and you wouldn't want him and Rocky to buy the Bears? Figures coming from a couple of guys who get excited watching pitchers bat.

On second thought, you guys deserve Virginia, her her dolt of a son. Have fun watching reruns of the 30/30 '85 Bears cuz that's all you get as long as she and the dolt are cutting checks.

Too bad you guys weren't old enough to have seen the real teams of '83 - '93 play. You'd feel differently.

Reinsdorf has publicly stated that he would trade MJ and all of the Bulls for one title for the Sox. His priorities are out of whack and I doubt he'd be any better than the McCaskeys.

This. He can be good when he wants to win, but that's not his priority. He wants to make money. He has his rings.

The difference between Rocky and Jerry. Jerry inherited a goldmine, with a rising MVP level player (eventual GOAT) and a young Phil Jackson waiting in the wings. Rocky on the other hand, inherited, what I was originally going to call a dumpster fire, but that would be disrespectful to dumpsters everywhere. The Blackhawks were debated as the worst franchise in sports. IN SPORTS! Not just hockey, but all professional sports. So the idea that he turned this flailing franchise around, and didn't just make them respectable, he made them legendary. 3 Cups since he took over and most likely more to come. Especially in the cap era. That's extremely difficult to do. He found his front office, he found his core guys and he rode them. Reinsdorf keeps holding on to Kenny Williams, and the same with Gar/Pax and they continue to hurt the franchise. The White Sox have 1 season left to convince their fanbase that they give a sh*t about winning, or that entire FO is out on their butts. The Bulls meanwhile, are like watching a building on fire. Sure, there was something good, something solid and stable, but now it's just an eyesore and it's falling apart.

As a Bears fan......it's painful to watch this organization continously piss all over themselves. I'm not quite sold on the new GM, but I've still got a sliver of hope. I'm definitely no fan of the McCaskeys, especially that effing idiot Mike, however, I loathe Reinsdorf probably just as much, if not more

All of this. The Packers will always be near the top with Rodgers, the Vikings have made great strides, and even the Lions have crawled out of the gutter. That leaves the Bears, who seem very content winning 5-7 games a year.

Making some great offseason moves at relatively low costs! Defense getting huge upgrade so far!

Yup, I'm a big fan of the upgrades. I'm not expecting an elite defense, but the starters have been significantly improved. I'm actually optimistic about their chances next year. They may be able to sneak into a wild car spot, but things will need to break right for them.

The thought of a LB corp of McPhee, Freeman, Trevathan and Houston is crazy. That has the makings of an elite unit.

I'd like for the Bears to take the best defensive player available. Ideally, 1) Shaq Lawson, 2) A'Shawn Robinson, 3) DeForest Buckner. However, if Stanley or Tunsil falls to us (unlikely), we have to lock them up. Either have the makings of great LT's. Hope that happens, because we can afford to wait until the 2nd to draft a DE/DT. It's a DEEP draft for defensive linemen this year. Still unsure about our secondary though. Amos looked promising, Porter should hold down the fort, Fuller didn't look...atrocious. We still need another corner and depth at Safety, but I'd rather work from the front first.

I would still like them to grab Jaylon in the top of the 2nd. With the LB core in place, we have the luxury of letting him rehab for the first year.
