How many of you truly realize where Kelly has this program? Down to 3rd string LT, minus your NT and you have to bring in your 3rd string QB when trailing.
All this team did was step up to the challenge. The line stepped as did the defense. Programs without the mindset of a winner fold their tents and go home and they didn’t stop once they got the lead.
The performance of Pyne was 1975 Montanaesque.
Sunday morning and I’m still pumped about this win.

Interesting food for thought. The question is really how you break through that last tier. Is it just getting a 5-star transcendent QB? Is it about getting more 1st round talent on both sides of the ball?
Torres' tweet is non-responsive to the 'crowd' he's supposed to be engaging with there, though. They're saying Notre Dame is overrated with respect to the playoff field, and every time Notre Dame has had a chance to prove otherwise they've gotten housed.
First round QB. Definitely 1st rd QB
In 2018, ND was the only team in the playoff without a future 1st rd QB. Last year in the playoff, ND was the only team without a future 1st rd QB. In fact, over the last 3 years, so if you include 2019, the only two QB's to make the playoffs that did not end up as 1st rd picks were Jalen Hurts and Ian Book. And I think we can all agree that Hurts, while didn't get drafted in the 1st, is on a different level than our guy Ian.
Disagree. The "ND is overrated" crowd don't take such nuanced stances. And that's easily addressed because: (1) no one has argued that ND is on the same level as 'Bama and Clemson yet; and (2) 'Bama and Clemson have been housing everyone recently, so that's just not a very useful standard for determining who's overrated.
We're definitely not in the top tier yet. But we're arguably just below it. Other teams (OSU, UGA, OU) recruit better, but we're more consistent and better coached. As others have said, if you gave Kelly a generational QB, he'd have at least one natty. Hell, if you gave him 6 years of Watson and Lawrence between 2014 and 2020, he'd probably have multiple.

The "ND is overrated" crowd is the same group that always says "ND needs to join a conference!"
Meanwhile our strength of schedule this year is 14th currently. The previous 4 years it was 7th, 16th, 13th, and 9th. I've been over this with Cincinnati fans recently, like they've got room to talk![]()

I need a source foe these numbers as I find it hard to believe our current SoS is 14th with no more ranked teams on the docket after Cindy.

Not to be a wet blanket, but....
1) Most ND fans will start BK2.0 after 2016. But leaving 2017 off the table conveniently eliminates 3 losses (UGA / Miami / Stanford).
2) 2018 best wins....1) A Michigan team that gave up 62 to OSU and lost by over 3TD's to Florida in their two most difficult games 2) A 4 loss Stanford team 3) An exceedingly overrated Syracuse team.
3) 2019 best wins....1) A 5 loss UVA 2) Navy 3) A tie among 5 Loss USC, 5 Loss VT, 6 loss Iowa State
4) 2020 best win was Clemson, which was thrilling. But at the same time, once their injuries cleared and they got back TL, ND got bent over a barrel by them. Only other notable win was UNC, which ended the year with 4 losses (without playing Clemson) with losses to UVA / FSU / ND / Texas A&M.
5) 2021 - Wisky, who already has 2 losses and could end up with 4 or 5 before the end of the year.
I don't mean that as a knock on BK, but ND has consistently beaten who they should, which is something he couldn't even say thru 2016. The program is clearly in a better spot. But that stat makes it seem like they are constently winning against the tier 1b teams (tier 1a would be Ohio State, Clemson (before 2021), Bama...that's it as far as I am concerned).
