I took it as this as well.

I'm not sure it was ban-worthy in and of itself, but I think it was clearly heading that direction.

To add, I'm not bothered by the theme he was presenting. I love college football passion and repping one's own team, even if it's not my own. It's why I love CFB. Hard core fans get my respect, even more so when they're drunk on kool aid sometimes.

I took it completely different. I took is a comment from their fanbase. If it was his own personal thought, then there would be no need to preface it with a "perspective" comment. He would simply go right into it.

But I suppose we'll never know, since he was banned before anyone could ask him...

Rereading his post, this guy wasn't going to add anything meaningful to the conversation. He just wanted to smack the hornet nest and then run for the hills before the bees get him. I don't think he had anything to contribute.

For the record, I didn't ban him, and probably would have made him answer for his first post before doing so.

But I think his purpose for being here was very clear. From taking shots at ND coaches, to prepping the "you're supposed to be better than us" argument, to going internet-troll-default with "Rudy was offsides," it is obvious that he just wanted to stir up sh*t without any good intentions.

I don't mind someone stirring things up by talking up their own team and pointing out ND's flaws, but at least make a show of good faith beforehand, especially when you've ventured into enemy territory.

Well then....

BVG was bloody awful at Auburn. Not sure why anyone expected him to be better anywhere else. His problems at AU weren't just a lack of talent. He's a guy who was a decent position coach, but has no business being a DC.

And also, Bishop has his moments, but he at least made an initial impression that granted him some wiggle room... the GT guy just jumped right into the fire. So I can see why someone had zero tolerance (my money is on Cack or LAX).

See my edit above... and also my initial post, I stated that I wouldn't have banned him myself without making him answer for the post.

I'm just saying that I understand the reasons for whoever did ban him. Obvious troll was obvious.

This does not strike me as a justifying a ban. The solution to the problem, IMO, is more speech, as we see in that thread, with posters pointing out that this is foolish analysis. If he kept making dumb off-topic comments that are designed to provoke (e.g., "Rudy was offsides"), then maybe he should be re-banned. But I personally think his ban should be lifted.

It was clearly a troll job, and for me at least, it was clearly written by him, and not by someone else.

I enjoy thoughts from other fanbases. But he was here simply to talk shit. There was zero redeeming value in his post. If you allow guys like that, this site turns into an ESPN comments section, and those are friggin' garbage. At the end of the day, this is a Notre Dame fan site. It's one thing to argue with guys like you, and quite another to argue with trolls. That's why I'm here and not on Rival's main board or any other site open to trolls.

The mods here give TONS of rope, as long as the poster comes in with just a bit of tact. But this douche was solely a douche, so he mods IMHO made the right call. To hell with any troll who comes in, and welcome any 'normal' fan that wants to join the fray...
