I was just thinking HOORAY we made it thru the first game without a BANNING

Still did, this being self imposed and all

PS: I actually believe Wooly here and wish Rackem a good month of that subscription

Rack clearly operates to a higher principle than the average IE poster.

There is no questioning of Rack's motives, just like there is no crying in baseball, or no appeal to logic, (when the boss has made her decision; yes you can take this as work related, but while I say this, you married guys, I am really looking at you!)

All this said as a homage to Rack, I would like to say that after opening weekend (the season has finally arrived, thank Goodness!) and the most dominating performance of any ranked school against a power 5 opponent, anyone who would pull a (real) ban would have to be bat-shit, angel-dust, piss-in-his(or her)-own-cheerios crazy!

Minor point; but I felt compelled to make it!

I don't consider a voluntary suspension a ban.

If someone who asks for a ban reverses course and asks for the "Ban" to be lifted what do you do?

We're an anarchosyndicalist commune. Mods take it in turns to act as a sort of executive officer for the week. But all the decision of that officer have to be ratified at a special biweekly meeting. By a simple majority in the case of purely internal affairs, but by a two-thirds majority in the case of more serious requests.

No way. That's not true. I can't imagine that Pham and the rest of the mods expect me to actually look at PM's and reported posts... that would be ridiculous.

I guess a GT fan was banned for writing this:

Bit of perspective from a Ga. Tech fan:

ND will never win another NC until you do something to fix the O'Leary thing. You guys think the Bambino curse was bad, you do not even know you are living under this one. Do any of you realize that the man had just signed a 15 year contract with Tech, with the only provision in it to leave being an offer from ND? Think he might have been a little more motivated than this series of fame hungry wannabes that you keep ending up with? The day you fired him was the day I lost respect for your school and stopped rooting for you.

I hope by now everyone knows how badly CPJ wants to beat CBVG and why

ND has over 50 four and five star players on it's team - Ga. Tech has 3 four star players - can you imagine the embarrassment you would feel if....

And Rudy was offsides

This does not strike me as a justifying a ban. The solution to the problem, IMO, is more speech, as we see in that thread, with posters pointing out that this is foolish analysis. If he kept making dumb off-topic comments that are designed to provoke (e.g., "Rudy was offsides"), then maybe he should be re-banned. But I personally think his ban should be lifted.

The guy was clearly a troll. There's basically zero tolerance for that.

I've never heard anyone give ND crap about O'Leary. Boggles the mind.

That's not a guy that was interested in "more speech."

He was already setting up for the whole "you guys recruit so well but we still beat you with a bunch of scrubs LOLOLOLOL"

If you're coming to an opposing team's board, and you're interested in actually having some discourse, you at least test the waters first... that guy jumped right into the deep end.

I'm kinda in Grad's boat (which is crazy, since he's my nemesis). That guy wasn't even saying that himself, it was a quote from a GT board (hence the, "Bit of perspective from a Ga. Tech fan:"). He was simply giving us some insight to their thought process.

If he was posting other comments, then I get it. But if this post in particular got him banned, then I think it was a bit misguided. I like having a few opponent fans on game week.

I would have liked if we had time to talk some ish with him during the week. But I'm almost always anti-ban so FWIW.

I took it as "I'm a GT fan, here's how I feel:" not "this is from another GT board:"

I'm a big advocate of opposing fans typically, having been one on other boards. They usually provide great perspective from someone outside the program. On the other hand, I don't care for trolls, and this guy felt trollish.

Know what's great about an opposing troll though, shoving it in their face after the Irish stomp them.
