II podcast answered a question on what they thought of Denson as a recruiter and they did not give exactly glowing reviews of his recruiting prowess. Basically, nobody questions his talent as a RB position coach as he has improved and developed Tony Jones Jr, Josh Adams, Deon McIntosh, etc. However, Loy mentioned that from recruits he's spoken to he never gets the, "wow, Coach Denson is all over me, and hitting me up everyday" thing. He also mentioned that you can hear from recruits that they know and rave about Elston, Polian, Long, Lea, and others but doesn't hear about recruits raving about Autry Denson as much (that doesn't mean recruits don't like him). Sinclair also mentioned the selling points of ND's runningback position which includes a talented Offensive Line, an amazing 2019 OL class, an O-Coordinator who likes to run, and a good developer of talent in Denson himself. Sinclair then added that he spoke to Kenan Christon and got the impression that the kid has not been made fully aware of these selling points and that if it was him he'd be pushing those things incredibly hard. I personally think Denson has come from Miami (OH) and Bethune Cookman where he recruited nobody close to this level before and there might be an adjustment period. Also, I think landing one stud recruit could propel him into the conversation for many of the top RB recruits and give him some credibility on the trail. Again, I think Denson is a fantastic position coach so if you could combine the recruiting to the position coach level then you'd have something special.
