Anybody else watching this dog and pony show on CNN? What a fucking disgusting display.
They sure can. A well regulated militia. (Should the Texas national guard possess nuclear weapons?)
This is a conversation about private citizens and sensible regulation of the right to bear arms. The whole defense against tyranny angle is comical because tens of thousands of AR-15s in the hands of macho men aren't going to make a difference against a drone that takes out electricity, water, and the interconnected food system hauling you vegetables from 2,000 miles away.
Your scenario places the US government in a lose lose. It would be impossible to occupy and disarm tens of thousand of citizens in a large territory who are armed with AR15s and willing to fight. Our military can destroy with efficiency but they're not so efficient when it comes to occupation. The disaster that is the ME provides all the proof we need. They would be forced to destroy their own infrastructure and kill their own people to stop tens of thousands of civilians who are heavily armed and ready to kill or be killed. The day our leaders give orders to destroy infrastructure or kill civilians in mass numbers is the day they lose control and power. That ain't happening.
That's kind of my point. What if the roles were flipped and the slave states had been the "union" and the North were the good guy secessionists. Wouldn't you want the rebels to be armed?I think you doubt the resolve of the government determined to persevere. I know you haven’t forgot the Civil War but we have already seen that before when millions of Americans turned traitors during the civil war. An entire quarter of the country and all its own infrastructure was destroyed to bring them to their knees. It can happen again.

This is going to backfire on the left big time. This is going to turn into a HUGE GOP get out the vote drive and sell a million AR-15s.
Everybody WAS armed!!!!!!!!! The winner (if you can call it that) literally burned the south to the ground! Guns didn’t do shit except kill a million people. .
I don't have the data handy, but I heard on the radio that millennials actually poll the highest in support of concealed carry.I had this thought. The conservative/NRA peeps are gonna go out and bump sales/support big time in the immediate future.
However, I also had the thought that the NRA probably has 30 different committee meetings set for today, worried that their supporter base is going to shrink big time in the not-so-distant future based on the response from high school kids thus far.

I'll take " 'The South has Better Food,' for 500 Alex"
Though I haven't seen too many EYE-talians down this way...
Btw, sausage and peppers in a tortilla is damn good.
Sorry for derailing y'all's thread tho
No, don't you dare apologize. IE is built upon a general understanding that we do not agree on nearly anything, but the one concept that brings us back from Nuketown NDNation is food.
Switch out the tortilla for rice paper. Ditch the olives. Add cucumber sticks, fresh dill, cilantro, basil, and mint. A little garlic-soy-honey dipping sauce. My wife makes these Mediterranean wraps for lunch every Friday during lent, and they are most dope.
Take any kind of tortilla, but preferably wheat or spinach, spread on a generous helping of some roasted red pepper hummus, throw a bunch of feta on top of that, along with some fresh, cold diced onions, celery, black olives and cherry tomato.
One of the rare instances where I look forward to a meal with no meat or heated elements.
