I can't believe they just announced that they weren't firing him and released this report... Seems like PR suicide.

I saw a tweet from McMurphy with the next sentence on the official report which says, "He has also periodically taken medicine that can negatively impair his memory, concentration, and focus."

Some people call that "medicine" alcohol.

Notre Dame needs to send Ohio State the phone numbers of the three investigative teams they used who had criminal digital forensics. They will find those texts.

Notre Dame is like a special counsel when it comes to it's investigations. They could teach OSU a thing or too.

Its going to be interesting to see how OSU reacts to situations in the near and distant future. Will Urban run a tight ship or keep letting everyone do as they please? How will the media look at OSU and Urban? Will player discipline be more scrutinized or will people just forget about it?

Not likely. I've never seen a more myopic fan base than that of POSu. That includes the entire state. Their program just punted domestic abuse down the street in the wake of everything going on with the sexual abuse allegations going on with the wrestling program. They look WEAK. They look like every other piece of shit program out there that turns a blind eye to protect their cash cow. I'm completely disgusted.

Well said. A room full of despicable humans. I hope McMurphy keeps running with whatever he can.

Not sure how much McMurphy has left to run with. I hope he does.

Hoping TCU knocks them off game 3, and PSU beats them game 5. And then IU and PU beat them games 6 and 8. A boy can dream... What will probably happen though is that OSU is undefeated midway through the season, and all is forgotten...

I'd love to see the vagina hats from the women's march come out to protest every home Buckeye game this year at the Shoe.

They might have made a decision on a punishment, but I think there will be lasting negative effects from this.

-How will the players react? Their first 2 games are cake walks like usual, but they have a tough game in Arlington in week 3 against TCU.

-Someone posted this earlier, but does this shorten Urban's leash? What happens if they go 8-4 or 7-5 because the team couldn't get over the massive distractions for the past month?

With that being said, Ohio State should be ashamed of themselves. Someone should've been fired, either Urban or the AD. In the world we live in now where domestic violence is a big issue, this is a terrible look for them. In Columbus, its winning >> domestic violence.

To quote our friend Cardale Jones "OSU didn't come here to play no school".

He may ask a few more questions about a coaches past when he interviews new coaches, but you won't see much difference IMO.

OSU fans will give him a standing ovation when he finally takes the field. I hope the fans at OSU road games give him a lot of crap.

I don't know how much more of this sport I can take. It seemingly brings out the absolute worst parts of anyone who touches it. I have already completely given up on the NFL. Up until this I was able to look past most of the bad the NCAA did because there was still some good. But at this point it just seems like the NCAA is the NFL with a better business model because they don't even have to pay their talent.

This. I'm ready to pack it in and be done.

I've been here for a year at least... stuff like this always sat wrong, the playoff hurt, the NCAA ruling on ND was a huge hit too and this is just another straw. CFB used to be my main passion in life, up there with faith and family, now in the course of just three-five years it wouldn't even rate in my top three sports loves anymore.

I am still confused on how "Urban is a POS" is actual news.

Here are the two choices for pOSU fans.

1. Admit that Urban is a liar

OR

2. Believe that everything that Urban told the investigators is true. This includes Urban telling the investigators that "he had no recollection whatsoever of the 2015 domestic violence investigation of Zach Smith." This includes the following:

a. That AD Gene Smith recalls Coach Meyer having an immediate and strong negative reaction to this news

b. AD Gene Smith directed Zach Smith to return immediately from a recruiting trip, and Coach Meyer, AD Gene Smith and others met with Zach Smith a number of times to discuss the issue and ongoing investigation. Zach Smith denied any domestic violence, and Coach Meyer told him that if “you hit her, you are fired.” AD Gene Smith also told Zach Smith that if charges were filed, he would be fired;

c. Coach Meyer assisted in arranging professional counseling for Zach Smith at this time; and

d. Meyer and Gene Smith monitored the Powell Police investigation regularly for a period of months.

Choose Buckeye fan. Is he a liar or does your coach have memory problems so severe that he can't remember any details regarding the 2015 incident, an investigation that Gene Smith and UM followed regularly for a period of months.

Urbie is going to have a really hard time justifying suspending any players on his team for more than 3 games...without pay.

I could be wrong, but I think Meyer, and Gene Smith, are effectively done at Ohio State. Might take a couple years, but they’ll be gone. It’s just a matter of when.

The university just embarrassed itself mightily in order to protect them. They have no rope left, and they’ll be hearing about it all season. When another shoe drops - could be something else like this, or a bad player incident, or even just be an 8-4 season with a loss to Michigan - it’ll become obvious even inside the Columbus Bubble that it’s time for Urban to go. And maybe he’ll go with a buyout, or a “health scare,” but go he will. Barring a national title maybe, I don’t think you really come back from this.

tOSU had the goods to fire both of them for cause and didn't. And this was them doing their own investigation. Barring a major NCAA violation or players committing serious felonies, UM will be at tOSU as long as he wants. Smith is probably retiring in 16 months or so when his contract runs out.

My hunch is that next April, Urban will show up at the Astrodome in Houston ready to coach his Oilers to victory and retires once he realizes Warren Moon isn't showing up.
