Suspended for what?

It was either wrong or right. Fired or safe.

Shiteshow as I knew it would be.

Wow....

Just, wow.

So, he's guilty, but not really, really guilty. He was apparently brushing up on how to answer questions about Zach Smith for media day, but only so far that he knew it wasn't a felony.

They knew about some other stuff, maybe not other stuff, so yea, he's a good guy.

What an absolute sham that was.

If they would have just said "3-game suspension" then Mic drop, I think that would have been better than what just happened.

Edit: Reading some of the press hand-outs - Smith and Meyer didn't believe they had enough to warrant reporting this because a police report wasn't filed, ignoring the fact that she would have pressed charges the first time if Meyer's life coach and mentor didn't talk her out of it in 2009. Guy is a repeat offender, and they just said, "Eh, no police, no problem".

So both Meyer and Smith knew but didn't report the 2015 incident. And both keep their jobs? Wow.

Mary Jo White: Urban Meyer was aware of 2015 domestic violence allegations, he was informed of them by Gene Smith; both Meyer & Smith monitored the investigation for months. So two guys in leadership positions were aware of the 2015 incident, were watching the legal investigation closely, didn't report it any higher up the chain, and then lied to the media about it later.

3 games. *Gavel knock*

Jesus, here is a portion of his statement after he got caught lying at media day...

"Here is the truth: While at the University of Florida, and now at The Ohio State University, I have always followed proper reporting protocols and procedures when I have learned of an incident involving a student-athlete, coach or member of our staff by elevating the issues to the proper channels. And, I did so regarding the Zach Smith incident in 2015. I take that responsibility very seriously and any suggestion to the contrary is simply false.

You did? You followed proper reporting protocols "regarding the Zach Smith incident in 2015"? Sounds like Smith told him, and then it died.

So, if I'm getting this correctly, he lied at media day, then he lied on his follow up statement?

How are they not playing Benny Hill music in the background while this is going on....

Total avoidance by Urban saying if he disagreed with the suspension. “I trust and believe in our president”

Correct. He lied about lying. Somehow I think this is going to go over outside of Columbus like a turd in a fish bowl.

Not likely. I've never seen a more myopic fan base than that of POSu. That includes the entire state. Their program just punted domestic abuse down the street in the wake of everything going on with the sexual abuse allegations going on with the wrestling program. They look WEAK. They look like every other piece of shit program out there that turns a blind eye to protect their cash cow. I'm completely disgusted.

Yea, so Gene Smith never knew of 2009? Did I hear that right? Even after going to Urban in 2015 and telling him what's he's heard, it wasn't mentioned to him then?

Edit: I'd turn this off now, but I'm looking for Trevor Matich going postal (I fully expect he will) on ESPN2.

Edit: Trevor disappointed, but did he say he also wasn't aware of the text messages to his wife?

Didn't catch that either. Find it laughable that Urban said he was unaware of the texts between his wife and Mrs Smith. And no heartfelt apology to Mrs Smith when asked what he would say to her. That is pretty amazing.

Finebaum pretty much nailed it when he said that Urban Liar read his statement in a way that sounded like a hostage with a gun to his head.

I don't know how much more of this sport I can take. It seemingly brings out the absolute worst parts of anyone who touches it. I have already completely given up on the NFL. Up until this I was able to look past most of the bad the NCAA did because there was still some good. But at this point it just seems like the NCAA is the NFL with a better business model because they don't even have to pay their talent.

Disappointing but not unexpected.

I hope the media brings the hammer, but I doubt they will.

I can't believe they just announced that they weren't firing him and released this report... Seems like PR suicide.
