I hope Chip Long is taking notes.

Three 6-4 athletes on the outside, throw it high and back shoulder against aggressive corners who face guard and let your prototype Patriot slot find the holes. Long has the exact personnel needed.

Just need a QB that can drop dimes in tempo. Lagow looks like a Pro Bowler in the first half.

Hurts my heart to see Dobbins in scarlet and grey. Number one want at RB last year.

Their front seven is nothing but 5* studs.

Their special teams unit is filled with 5* stud freshman.

QB play is very sub par. They'll have a tough time with someone who can slow up their run game (UM)

Game played out like I expected. IU plays tough first half. At halftime, Meyer tells Wilson to quit throwing the ball and start running it. Game over.

How about their DL. Indiana's QB was so good at getting the ball out in 2 seconds or he would have been hurting.

OSU's DL just walks over OL like the white walkers taking out pawns.

https://www.cbssports.com/college-f...by-herman-muschamp-blaming-inherited-players/

The coach particularly took issue with Tom Herman at Texas and Will Muschamp, formerly at Florida and now at South Carolina.
Meyer pointed to a statement made Saturday by Herman (his former offensive coordinator at Ohio State) not being able to "sprinkle fairy dust" on the Longhorns team he inherited from Charlie Strong (Meyer's former defensive coordinator at Florida) following a loss to Maryland.
Meyer also said Muschamp "blamed us for Florida," referring to a perceived lack of talent left for Muschamp when Meyer departed before the 2011 season.
"C'mon man. I don't know where that came from," Meyer told CBS Sports. "It's like a new generation of excuse. [Herman] said, 'I can't rub pixie dust on this thing.' He got a dose of reality. Maryland just scored 51 points on you."
The full quote by Herman in Saturday's postgame: "If we all thought that we were going to come in here and in nine months sprinkle some fairy dust on this team and think that we've arrived then we're wrong."
"Players read that," Meyer continued.
Herman replaced Strong at Texas. Strong was an assistant for four Florida coaches, including Meyer from 2005-09, when he led a dominant defense that helped the program win two national championships.
It's not clear if Muschamp ever directly suggested the cupboard was bare when he took over for Meyer. However, at the time of his Florida firing in 2014, Muschamp told CBS Sports, "[We] changed the culture of the program that was labeled by the previous head coach [Meyer] as 'broken.' He said it. I didn't."
Meyer saw 14 of his recruits selected in the three drafts after his departure following the 2010 season.
"You had Jeff Driskel, Chris Rainey, Jeff Demps, that whole defense got drafted," Meyer pointed out.
Rainey was selected in the fifth round in 2012. Demps went undrafted but played briefly in the NFL. Both were tailbacks. Seven Meyer-recruited Florida defenders were drafted from 2011-13.
Driskel, a quarterback, was recruited by Meyer and signed in Muschamp's first recruiting class.
"That's like, when I got here, everybody wanted me to say Jim Tressel left the cupboard bare," Meyer continued. "If I heard any assistant coach [say that], they'd be gone. You're done.
"Those are your players. I hear TV guys [say], 'Wait until they get their own players in there.' They're our players. What do you mean 'their players?' The minute you sign a contract, they're your players.
"You didn't choose me, I chose you. You're mine, absolutely. I love you, and I'm going to kick the shit out of you, and we're going to do it right …
"[Blaming players] drives me insane."
In Wednesday's post-practice remarks to the media Meyer reiterated those feelings. In his second year after replacing Florida's Ron Zook in 2006, Meyer won a national championship. In his first season after replacing interim coach Luke Fickell, Ohio State went 12-0 with a large swath of Tressel-recruited players.
"I've advised my coaches when they take new positions [to] always be extremely complimentary. Never talk as if those players aren't your players," he explained. "... When I hear coaches say, 'These aren't my guys. Wait 'til we get some guys in here,' I cringe. Whose guys do you think they are?"

Urbie speaking truths here for sure, BK could have understood this when he took over

Urban going to bat for his dudes, which is cool.

But, it's convenient for him to do that with public comments.

If you're buried on the depth chart and then pop a knee ligament?

It goes from "You're my guy, I love you" to "Who are you? You ever thought about playing at Kent State?"

Kirk Herbstreit gets in bizarre Twitter fight with Ohio State recruits | New York Post

Could Kirk Herbstreit’s mouth cost his beloved Buckeyes a star recruit? Or could the recruit’s mouth buy him an early spot in Ohio State’s doghouse?

Herbstreit, an ESPN analyst and former Ohio State quarterback, got into a Twitter spat Wednesday with five-star prospect Jackson Carman, the top-ranked offensive tackle in the country.

In the wake of Ohio State’s 31-16 loss to Oklahoma last Saturday, during which starting quarterback J.T. Barrett struggled, multiple recruits suggested the Buckeyes give a shot to redshirt freshman Dwayne Haskins, a former Highland Park, N.J., resident. It apparently triggered Herbstreit.

Five-star prospect Micah Parsons, the top-ranked defensive end, called for the former Under Armour All-American. Then on Monday, Carman followed with a tweet that Haskins should play. Herbstreit quickly responded with a tweet suggesting all recruits should “keep quiet and worry about their own teams.”

Herbstreit explained that he was trying to “help them avoid issues on their future team. Not to mention [it’s] not their place.” He followed up by adding, “Pretty sure their opinions, once they get into their future locker rooms, won’t go over real well.”

The tongue-lashing prompted Parsons to walk back his comments, but Carman wasn’t about to. He doubled down with an implication that if Ohio State didn’t want him, USC and defending national champion Clemson would.

“Pretty sure I wouldn’t have any problems in Dabo Swinney’s or Clay Helton’s locker room for my OPINION on OSU’s qb,” Parsons tweeted.

From there, it devolved into both sides arguing with other parties joining in.

Another commit, Jaiden Woodbey, drew Haskins into the conversation by asking when his friend was going to play, and the redshirt freshman cryptically replied “Soon [?]”

Suddenly this weekend’s game against Army actually has some intrigue.

Woodbey also channeled “Game of Thrones’” Tywin Lannister when he tweeted, “Bingo…Lions don’t worry about the opinion of Sheep.” And when Ohio State freshman quarterback Tate Martell stuck up that Herbstreit was hardly a sheep, Woodbey shot back that’s exactly what Herbstreit was.

Herbstreit also was something else: Right, in saying that sharing their opinions not only could but would hurt them at Ohio State. When Buckeyes coach Urban Meyer was asked at Monday’s press conference whether a critique of the program could have hurt a recruit, he said it could.

“Sure,” Meyer said, according to landof10.com. “I was made aware of something, and I let other people know — I was made aware of it.”

Meyer spoke in general terms because he can’t directly talk about specific recruits.

Not gonna lie, I often worry that Brady is going to inadvertently call a bunch of ND players/recruits "dumb" one of these times when he's battling one of the talking heads about why it's a bit more difficult at ND than most places, and then the national media is going to blow it up.

On the flip-side, OSU fans generally loath Herbstreit to begin with. Some despise him for being so anti-homer that they think he's combative toward OSU, while others think he's entirely TOO homer, and think he's a clown for it.

Schools recruit these kids and they attend games all the time, get to be in the LR and on the sidelines and feel they are already part of the team, but KH is right IMO. You're really not part of the team until you arrive on campus and start participating. Then, it's even more important for you to watch what you say and when you say it, because you belong to the HC now and he can rip you a new one lickety split. Then reality sets in and you wonder what happened to all of the love you got as a recruit? Welcome to big boys FB.

Herbie just had a mini-meltdown on Gameday. They were talking about players questioning CUM, and he snapped "I don't care if the kid is a 5 star, 7 star, 10 star, if he questions Meyer, GET RID OF HIS ASS!" It was very genuine. Haven't seen him that salty before.

I'm trying to understand and hope someone can help explain to me why the Suckeyes are #10? They struggled against Indiana for almost 3 quarters and yes they pulled away late but it was Indiana. Got embarrassed by OKLA at home and then struggled again going into halftime against Army by only being up by 10 at halftime. Now once again they pulled out a large win at the end but I'm just trying to figure out what the argument is for them to be a top 10 team. The fact that they started out as the #2 team at the beginning of the year was just ridiculous, they clearly didn't deserve to be in the playoff last year getting trounced 0-31 to Clemson but no one in the sports world ever brings that up. I hear the reference to ND getting blown out by Bama in the NCG more often then I do OSU getting toasted by Clemson and that was 5 years ago. I know the sports world loves the Buckeyes and I'm not trying to make this about ND as we're more like a 25-35 ranked team since our QB can't complete a pass nor can our WR get open. But how do those in charge of putting these rankings together look at the recent body of work of OSU and rank them #10. What I hate is, as much as the playoff committee says they don't take into account these other polls, you know they still see these rankings and it's not as if they can just ignore/forget about it. I just don't wanna see these Buckeyes sneak into the playoff again just because they were preseason ranked #2.

Urban Meyer displeased with frequency of night road games for Ohio State

awww...even when things aren't going great for us, aren't a majority of our road games late afternoon or evening for broadcast since we pull ratings?

I think it's a universal coach thing. BK was upset about this same thing a few years ago. It's hard to keep the football players on a decent schedule when you aren't getting home until 4am or Sunday at some point. It throws off the entirety of the following week a little bit.

lol BK would say these night games basically end up causing the players to miss out on an evening of study time. i doubt Meyer is worried about that.

As soon as they get caught doing whatever they are doing this time, they'll get slapped with sanctions, be ineligible, go 7-5 and be back in that comfy Noon EST slot every Saturday. Can't wait.

Pretty tough on them on Ganeday, including Kirk. Questioned players desire, called OSU just a pit stop to the NFL for many guys and that may be an issue.

Alabama is the only team that I have seen be able to sustain that level of success without egos getting in the way. I love the level that Meyer can recruit at, but there is also a point where you can have too much of a good thing in my opinion. Sounds crazy, I know, but there has to be a mix of talents that make up a program so that those things like ego and selfishness do not get in the way of the prize.

Ok, if you are watching them right now, this is the flip side to having all that talent. They look like a playoff team today.
