Buckeyes were so butt hurt when BK made that comment about our QBs in the Spring, loving the guys he had, etc. They took it as a slight to their tandem of Barrett/Jones, and laughed when Golson took off. Yet their two QB monster gave them issues all year. Meanwhile, we ended up with Kizer at QB for various reasons, and so far he's exceeded expectations overall (Only because I think expectations were fairly low after the Spring game). The whole thing is hilarious in retrospect.

lads 11W is glorious this morning:
The Horse Shit Shoe

There's nothing that pisses me off more about The Shoe game experience these days than the inevitable arguing with fellow Ohio State fans because of my refusal to sit down during a game. Sure enough, moments after kickoff, this happened...again.

Let me start by saying I will grant your wish for me to sit if you have a small child or are disabled. If you truly are disabled, though, and it's not obvious, then you would need to tell me this. I can't tell from your totally normal attire and posture that you may have knee/back/whatever problems. With that being said, I think if you are in either of those situations, you should come to the game knowing fully well that the people in front of you may be standing and that's the risk you take if you would like to sit the whole game. Those people are just as entitled to sit/stand in their seats as you are. You don't have many viewing options upon purchasing a ticket, but I'll be damned if the option to sit or stand isn't one of them.

Anyways, last night was the usual, "I'd like to see the game. Sit down!" coming from two guys who I assume are just angry and lazy (yes, if you come to the game to sit and do not disclose any physical issues with me, then you are lazy in my eyes. Stay at home on the damn couch). One guy was directly behind me and the other was a few rows back and just felt the need to give his hot take regardless of the fact that his vantage point was unaffected by my standing.

One of the ushers noticed the repeated requests and refusal to sit and came over to inform the asshats that we were entitled to stand the whole game if we wanted to. He also felt the need to tell us that we better obey their wishes in order to avoid further confrontation (not happening, pal). The guy a few rows back eventually did decide to come down and confront me face to face. Tough guy didn't swing, though, because he's built Ford tough. This confrontation led to the usher taking us below and asking me if I'd like to press charges. "Nope." Needless to say, the guy who decided his hot take was worth the price of admission did not return to his seat. And needless to stay, we stood the rest of the game without further confrontation.

The Shoe is no longer a top 10 intimidating environment for opponents. I understand we set the attendance record, but that doesn't mean anything when the masses are generally quiet and sitting. I can understand it being dull for the likes of a MAC opponent, but long gone are the days of losing my voice for days after a big game. It's not for lack of trying, but you just tend not to yell as loud or as often if very few are joining you.

The whole standing thing has really gotten to a point where it's weighing into my decision on whether to attend a game or not. Standing your ground is tiring and disruptive to the point of being there, and if I'm going to sit, I'd much rather do so in my living room. That's pretty sad. The lazy, quiet fans are driving away the ones that used to make The Shoe one of the hardest places to play.

And don't give me that BS about standing not offering any tactical advantage. The players notice what the crowd is doing, and they're going to play harder and with more adrenaline when the crowd is into it. And yes, the entire stadium standing vs. sitting most definitely plays into their thoughts on whether or not the crowd is into it.

Go Bucks!

TL;DR - Standing is fun, so let those who stand be. Get off your ass and cheer the whole damn game, or stay home. The Shoe isn't what it used to be.

Horrible playcalling with Zeke aside, Urban sure is utilizing all of those 'next Percy Harvins'. Not.

How long before Urban hires Sanford away from us. Had italics. Removed them.

well Sanford had the opportunity to take the OSU coord job this last offseason. He chose ND, dont see why he would turn around and head there the next year when he could have already been there.

Browsing through the OSU sites just for entertainment, and it's funny to me that they are all in agreement that Warriner/Beck both need to go.

Simultaneously, they are all in agreement that certain offensive coordinators wouldn't be interested in OSU because Urban has too much control of the offense.

They're mad at their "coordinators," but not the guy that they think actually controls everything. It don't make no sense.

Do you not recall that Sanford was offered a position by Urban and turned it down for ND instead?

Was it actually the OC position? I was under the impression it was for something like 4th assistant to the head coach or something.

Wasn't Alford previously offered a job and turned it down before accepting it last year? I hope Sanford doesn't leave, either way. I think it's important to have someone on the offensive side of the ball that is outside of Kelly's tree and challenges his decisions. Somebody needs to say "Hey, this team is too fast, we should probably not run the bubble screen an 8th time."

Just saw this over at Buckeye Planet, looks like he wasn't offered sole OC duty. Lots of tears over there right now:

Keep in mind that Urban's first choice was Mike Sanford. Sanford chose play calling with the Domers over a QB/co-OC role here. Oh, what could have been...

Urban Meyer: "Obviously we don't condone that. He came to me and apologized...we squashed that as a team."

He came to me and apologized because:
A. I told a coach to find him and tell him to come to my office. The coach told him you better apologize once you get there.
B. Teammates said, "WTF man? Do you realize what you just did? If I was you, I'd go find coach and apologize now so you don't sit the bench the rest of the year".
C. The national media was lighting this kid up.
D. All of the above.

QB/co-OC is exactly what he is here. He's not calling plays for us either. They don't know what they're talking about.

Me either. But it's not a punishment. Now that he has declared for the draft, I am holding him out of ALL team activities. I don't want him to accidentally injure himself and lose all of that money. "Sorry, son........... turn in your gear, and your rec center privileges are going to have to be shut off. Just take it easy and get ready for the next level. I can give you the phone numbers for a couple of relatively non-scuzzy agents, if you want? Good Luck!!"

It's funny that you mention this, because they have a fascination with referring to Ohio U and/or Cincinnati as "Fredo."

If this is true then give Meyer credit he could have thrown the kid under the bus and give the kid a break. They just lost a close game, saw their chance at repeating as National Champs go out the window. The kid was obviously upset and frustrated and I am sure Meyer knows this. Also it is highly unlikely Meyer sits this kid against Michigan or in the bowl game unless he is injured.

He will not be benched. He's the best offensive player on the team. Urbie is not know for sitting guys often.

While I think what Elliot said was correct, he had no business saying it in public. Air that stuff out in the locker room.

Now, with that said, Elliot probably doesn't recognize that he is part of the overall problem in Columbus. When you worry more about going pro than playing college football, you typically get the results the Buckeyes got. For a team they sure didn't act like it all year. And much of that goes to the players worried about draft stock but just as much goes to the coaches for not shutting that mess down. Urban is going to always be Urban... players first it appears.

Same thing happened at Florida. Urban is a great coach and recruiter. But he lets the inmates run the asylum. Thus the reason Florida fell apart, even though they had the most talent according to recruiting sites.
