I will laugh my ass off if the Browns draft Lynch in round 1. That would be such a typical Browns move.

Also, I can see Pittsburgh drafting Jaylon in round 3 (maybe even round 2 if they don't like what's available at the time). I wonder what his medical looked like if people are thinking he might sneak into the first round

I'm gonna go on a limb and say it... I think the Browns should draft Lynch.

[\dodges acamp's beer can]

Hear me out here. Hugh Jackson drafted Joe Flacco and turned him into a great NFL QB. Nobody in this draft compares better (skillset & size) to Flacco. Cleveland also MUST draft a QB somewhere in this draft. It's widely assumed that Hugh covets Lynch more than any other QB in this draft. You gotta let him go get his guy.

Pick 8 is way to high for him though. Which puts them in a great position. There are a ton of teams looking for one of the Tackles in this draft and one of them will clearly be available at 8, probably Stanley. Tennessee for instance, has a ton of picks and have been rumored to want him. So Cleveland has trade partners to move down, get Lynch and additional picks. So they get a QB and they get more picks, both are much needed.

/end rant

A lot of chatter that the Browns like Cook now... so long as they aren't trading up to get him earlier than they have to then whatever... I honestly like a guy like Hogan later on than I do Cook in the late first, early second and WAY more than I do a guy like Lynch in the early first... at least in terms of value...

I think that Lynch is going to be a better NFL QB than Cook. Cook's accuracy is appalling. It is very rare for a QB to get more accurate in the pros than they were in college.

I'm on team Hackenburg. Big kid. Did well in the pro-style when he was allowed to play in it. Stuck with Penn State commitment despite the stuff that was going on at the time. IIRC, wasn't Penn State basically an FCS team in terms of scholarship numbers when he got there? Might need a year or two to get his confidence and stuff back.

Hackenburg constantly ranted on the sidelines, was a cry baby, not well liked by his teammates and threw his coach under the bus to the media. He also played like dog shit outside of a few bright moments under O'Brian.

He's not even on my board if I'm a GM.

Role Play: You are a QB of a team coached by James Franklin, which form of suicide do you go with?

To be fair, who wouldn't want to throw James Franklin under a bus?

To be fair, he did no such thing. In his release when he left PSU for the draft he simply thanked everyone but James Franklin. Then in private meetings with NFL teams, he explained why he attributed his falloff to James Franklin's offense. As far as I'm aware, has not once publicly or privately bashed Franklin to any media member.

His thank you quote to the media was obviously a slight. C'mon man. Very Trumpian of him.

But that aside, he still threw his coach under the bus to the NFL teams. Which is actually probably worse. Imagine interviewing a possible candidate for a position at your company. You see he has some pretty serious question marks on his resume, so you ask him to explain. He then goes on a rant about how his last manager didn't know what he was doing and didn't know how to put him in a position to succeed. Would you hire that guy? Seems like you are setting yourself to be that same "bad manager" a year down the road.

Pass... Big time pass...

Who do we predict will be the big surprise ND player being taken either higher or lower than expected and in what round?

Apparently I've misspoken. Stanley to SD is supposed to be a lock, but SD may not stay at 3

I guess Russell. My unbiased grade would be round 5. I bet he goes early 3rd.
I think Day will be the steal. I really hope he goes somewhere with a good DC and talent around him.

Apparently if Apple is there it's a lock . They love them some Buckeyes . NFL network on Sirius was all over this

I think Lebeau was a huge Ohio State supporter so hopefully their love for them has lessened since he left.

I really hope Pittsburgh goes Defensive tackle first round. Seriously, They can't go into next year with McCullers as their starter. I liked that Ike Taylor even recognized that Dline was more important for Pittsburgh than CB during the NFL network mock draft, it gives me some hope that Colbert thinks this way too.

I would really like to see them actually trade down with one of those teams that will likely be scrambling to move up for a QB near the end of the first and grab another pick. D lineman are deep this year so they may be able to get a guy like Billings at the top of the second even if they were to move down from the first.

I have zero confidence in the Steelers picking a DB in the first round. I hope they stay away from Alexander, Apple and William Jackson III in the first. A guy like Karl Joseph is my sleeper pick for them although I'm hoping they could grab him in the second.

Would that be our highest pick since Rick Mirer at #2 overall in 1993?

Yes. Notre Dame has only had 11 first round picks since 1993.

1994 - #7 Bryant Young -DT
(#16 Aaron Taylor
#27 Jeff Burris)

1997 - #21 Renaldo Wynn - DT

1999 - #19 Luke Petitgout - OG

2003 - #21 Jeff Faine - C

2007 - #22 Brady Quinn - QB

2012 - #13 Michael Floyd - WR
(#29 Harrison Smith)

2013 - #21 Tyler Eifert - TE

2014 - #16 Zack Martin - OT

Looking at that list I'd say the Notre Dame guys have proven worthy of that first round pick. Only one could be classified as a bust (Brady Quinn) but that could be due to team selection.

Hackenberg sucks -- I regrettably watch almost every PSU game and went to several last year. Hack got hurt in the bowl game and the team played better with Trace McSorley in at QB. Hack is simply bad at football.

Why PFF Doesn't Have A Draftable Grade On Christian Hackenberg

Anyway, back to Jaylon. Can someone tell me where his injury lies on the spectrum from routine torn ACL to Marcus Lattimore's leg falling off? The injury didn't look awful on TV, and he is already running around and posting workout videos, so part of me doesn't get what the huge risk is even if he still has to miss extended time.
