Not making light of all this but everyone needs to step off the ledge.

-Roberson, did anyone really think he would be a real factor in our game plan? Hell half the people didnt even know if he was on the team during spring.
-Spond, he will bounce back and be ok.
-Prestwood, it is what it is, we are the arent the deepest at Oline but we have what we need to fill holes
-Welch, sucks but nothing is for sure yet and we still have very solid TEs in Eifert, Koyak, and Niklas

Bottom line lets all take a breath, sh!ts gonna happen. This panic is childish

Here are some images from today's practice that should hold you over until und.com uploads the video.

I'd suggest bookmarking Matt's website. He is the on-campus photographer for ND and you can purchase prints directly from his site. Very talented.

He's also on twitter: @mattcashore

Well said! I, like the rest of you want to see all these guys succeed here. You gotta remember every year these things are gonna happen. It sucks buts it's the reality of it. Guys are just gonna have to step up.

Only two out of the top 22 TE's on the 247 board are still uncommitted FWIW.

That said, with Eifert, Koyack, and Niklas still available and Huereman (sorry Mike on the Sp?) coming in next season, Matuska can play TE as well, if needed. TE is still an area of strength.

Injuries happen, it's football. This is what separates the top teams, depth.

As FLDomer put it, who actually thought Roberson was gonna make an impact this year. BK has the RB position deep.

Spond - While I am not as bullish on Spond as FLDomer is due to his concussion history, I believe LB is still strong with Councell, Ishaq, Rabasa, Moore, Schmidt, Grace all fighting for reps.

Remember, BK is known for talent development. This is where BK earns his money.

On three of four counts I totally agree. I am particularly surprised that people are rushing to recruit another TE. Even if the preliminary indication is that Welch's knee injury is season-ending, we have no reason to think it will be career-ending, do we? A career-ending injury like Roberson's is possible but very rare. More likely, even if Welch tore an ACL, he's out for the year and then back in 2013. No reason we need to bring in another TE in 2013; Welch in all likelihood will be back by then. I also agree on Roberson and Prestwood.

I am a little concerned about Spond being out. I really liked that we had a guy Spond's size who was relatively comfortable in coverage. Spond was a high-school safety. Most of our other OLBs were high school DEs. I guess we'll have to use safeties at DOLB even more often now, and that worries me a little, because I could see some teams taking advantage of that by using big players (TEs and FBs) on that side of the field.

Still, no reason to panic. Shembo has a year of experience at DOLB and he can go back over there if necessary. We will be fine.

By my count we're playing with 76 scholarship players now. Joy.

•Cierre Wood, who missed the Irish's first fall practice because of medical paperwork, was at practice and even fielded punts with Theo Riddick, Davonte Neal and Chris Brown

Nice! With only 76 schollie players we will need some of the freshmen to step up- they will definitely have the opportunity in some spots.

Any chance we use some schollies on walk-on's especially juniors/ seniors? (Maybe Joe Schmitt ?)

Do you guys realize these injuries happened to back-ups? Welch is a fine tight end, but Koyack and Niklas are just as good and maybe better. Cam Roberson was never going to to be a factor. And Spond just has a concussion, I like his chances to return against Navy.

It's football guys, injuries will effect every team

This after a serious one in high school. It's a bit more complicated for Spond then just he has a concussion.

Thinking about this EG/Hendrix battle with EG apparently leading the way, let us not forget that EG is a small guy and, just like D-Rob is more prone to injury. I think Hendrix needs to be ready at all times because nobody really knows how durable EG is.
