I think a subluxation is when it only partially comes out. A common example I think is when shoulders sublux. The only knowledge I have is from players in the past that have had shoulder problems. Usually after one sublux's, pain is extreme for a week or two and then rehab to strengthen the muscles around it to keep it in. Thinking back, most of my guys ended up having surgery to repair the problem that allowed it. Most all played the season however. I don't know if a knee cap and shoulder are comparable, but just thought I would share what I have seen. We have some PT's in the IE family, speak up guys and let us know how long he will be out.

Since I'm finishing up my DPT (and I was the one that originally said sort of), I'll go ahead and comment on this.

You are correct in that a subluxation is a partial dislocation. It is different with shoulders and knees as the patellofemoral joint is not a ball and socket like the shoulder is nor does it have a dedicated capsule surrounding it. The shoulder can 'pop out' of socket and stay out, where as the knee cap can pop-out, but unless it is very, very severe, will slide right back in due to the lack of a labrum (lip). IrishLax touched on an important factor in these situations with ligamentous/tendonous/capsular involvement. These injuries are much, much worse if a structure becomes impinged from these sublux/dislocations. Since Nate is said to be back in 2-3 weeks, this seems to be a simple rest and protect then strengthen the muscles around the knee. Ask away or PM if you have any other questions.

Cam is shifty enough to give us a solid return if he is kicked to but if he isn't kicked to he is a willing blocker.

Was really excited about Cam McDaniel when he committed. Kid is a legitimate threat out of the backfield on the run and the pass. Not necessarily a home run threat with his speed, but he's a consistent grinder. Split out, he would he an asset next year. Think Toma with more dexterity on the flanks.

Terry, are you sure that is the way you want to say it?

I believe that is what turned me on to my wife when I met her....

I like that move Daniel Smith threw off the line; seems like he's getting a few reps.

+1 to all of this. I love 247 and subscribe there, but their ND boards are worthless... very little discussion/very posters, and some incredibly annoying (or uninformed) trolls. There was some clown named jwood or something that I think finally got banned but was completely unbearable.

Hate to beat a dead horse here, but I usually try to get make the rounds on the sites I read at the end of the day to make sure I didn't miss anything big.

I'm not sure why I bothered to go there after stopping by here and not seeing anything earth-shattering, but the RR board at 247 has at least a dozen different threads on the shamrock series jersey and probably eight threads on the Rick Reilly article. Just makes me appreciate this board even more. That place is like a bad high school (albeit with good teachers). Totally out of control. Its like the same 7 or 8 annoying posters arguing incessantly about anything and nothing. It is the most tedious dialogue of all time.

On topic: I'm also glad to hear McD is being used on the return team. Think that is a great role for him. I like him a lot with the ball in his hands; not great straight-line speed but could be very useful in that role.

I really wanted Collinsworth to return punts because you have to have that edge. That said, of the current guys I think McDaniel is the best fit mentally. He seems to have incredible confidence and focus. He'll get after it.

Nicely stated.

if collinsworth is going to be out that long, i hope we redshirt him no use wasting a year of eligibility imo...only opption would be if we are in the thick of a national title or BCS birth and if that's the case we would be gettingl along ok without him

I just watched the practice video from yesterday, and that move that Daniel Smith put on Russell was great. Also noticed that it seems we have seen a lot of clips of the back shoulder fade pass. I do not remember seeing that throw a lot in the past. Golson seems to throw that pass well though.

if thrown correctly its basically unstoppable...unless its thrown into double coverage

As I read this, I get the gist that apparently there is an Owie (aka Boo-Boo)

Ok. I think this is the best team Kelly will have put out on the field. Do you guys agree?

Yes, I agree. It all comes down to the quarterback. Does the quarterback fit the offense? Is he mobile? Is he smart? Is he accurate? Can he make the correct reads? So far Golson does all of those things. I said from the beginning that Golson puts this team at full strength. Our offense matched with our defense, we could be in for a good season. If we don't turn the ball over of course

Yep. I thought Kelly's demeanor in the press conference was different than before, He wasn't trying to sell anything, trying to tell us where ND should be. He seemed relaxed, confident. I don't know if there will be more wins with the schedule but I would not be surprised if they do better than predicted. QB play is still the critical path this year.

I am cautiously confident.

Diaco was refreshingly honest when discussing the secondary, acknowledging that they are far behind last year's group and this may dictate defensive schemes. This worries me, particularly with the QB's and WR's ND will face this year. It's not like we weren't aware that losing two experienced CB's and one first round safety would hurt, but hearing the DC make this type of statement made it a bit more real for me. I think the D will shine against a team like Navy, but I am very worried about teams that can spread out a bunch of receivers and start throwing it all over the field.

I think that this could arguably be the most talented team, but more imporantly, is the most together team with the best chemistry, both within the team and with the coaching staff. I think that can be even more important than pure talent, and is one of many reasons why I am so excited for 2 p.m. in Dublin.

Haven't seen this level of chemistry and cohesion in a while. Finally, Kelly's mentality seems to have become the mentality of the team.

I think our QB play may actually be a strength of ours this year. Maybe I'm drinking the Kool-Aid but it seems like EG has had a lot of time to watch and learn how this offense is supposed to work. Also, he's a natural athlete who can make plays with both his feet and arm, which we haven't had lately. I think we're going to run up the score a few times this season..... I know, running up the score? What's that like? I'd be nice to really beat up on teams we are supposed to.
