This profile was long overdue. Will end up at ND. His brother Austin plays for the basketball team. At least one parent works for the university. Has good early offers and Ohio State has been kicking his tires for a year. Big kid, good film, plays at the best program in the north against as good of a schedule as you can line up outside of Indy.

What the hell... Welcome aboard Anthony!

I was about to ask if him and Austin were brothers. Different dads?

If he's worthy and goes to Penn that is a no brainer, right?

That said if he goes to Penn he is probably not all that great.

Mom's an alum, not an employee. That was PWO Cam Ekanayake i was thinking of.

I don't know the exact story. Austin is either fully adopted or was adopted by Anthony's dad. I played basketball against who I assume is Mom's brother or possibly cousin, Mark Gorski of SB Clay. He was 6-8 and not skinny. Seems to run in the fam.

I'll go see him play this year and ask my BIL, who is a local coach, on what the word on this kid is exactly.

I would say this though... I wouldn't rush the offer [/dodges beer cans]. This kid is ours if we want him presumably, and honestly, we seemingly can get the same level of recruit at any point. I think we stay in contact and are honest about our intentions. That we plan to offer, but will only do so once we know that he can fit into our longterm plans.

Is Penn bad now a days?

No... Penn is the Megatron of the South Bend area. The only game they lost last year was in the state semi finals to Carmel. They haven't lost a conference game since '10, and even then that was their only regular season loss.

Can he play DE?

I'm so confused on this thread. Is his brother another TE?

Penn is a good football program. Last year they beat both Brother Rice and Orchard Lake St. Mary's (Daelin Hayes' high school) in Michigan. I think you could compare them to the Indianapolis schools.

Penn has a great program. The odd thing about Penn is for how great they are they never seem to produce much talent on an individual basis. Indianapolis and Ft Wayne seem to dominate the recruiting world. I am having a hard time thinking of anyone outside Braxton Cave that has come out of Penn.

Mike Rosenthal is one other, but you're right, they typically haven't produced upper level D1 talent, just a bunch of real good teams though.

They didn't last year, but Penn use to play an annual game against Ben Davis (MIC) to open the season, but stopped around 2010. I think BD might hold a slight edge in wins, but they hold their own and win their share. Lost to Carmel (MIC) 21-10 in SC game.

This is a little of topic but Elkhart Central and Elkhart Memorial are combining schools. That will make things interesting as long as kids can stay eligible. Elkhart has kids that can fly and ball but they all seem to quit school or get caught up in things.

Penn is like the bully of Northern IN in football. They play a bunch of scrubs, win 50ish - 0, eventually get ranked #1 in 6A...

...then semi-state comes - they finally play a team that can wipe their own ass (Hamilton/Marion County), and get beat.

In the meantime the big boys might have 2 or 3 losses because the actually play each other during the year.

Long story short...want respected with the top programs in the state, come on down or invite someone up and earn it. Until then, enjoy your 51-0 W against South Bend Clay...whoever they are.

So play Indianapolis or gtfo? They are no where near Indy or Carmel. They play their league and teams closer to them. How do you even know the mid state teams want to play them? I wouldn't want to if I were them. One loss to Penn doesn't matter, an extra loss for Cathedral could leave them out of the playoffs.

Also, the five state championships in my lifetime at Penn thinks your argument is stupid.

Doesn't work that way, Wooly. Another loss doesn't mean you're out of the playoffs. Years ago, Penn had to play Ft Wayne schools in Sectionals, and they didn't care for that. Especially when we'd knock them out of the playoffs.

Hell if I know. What I do know is that it's bullshit to act like Penn has to travel all over the damn state to be relevant. It's high school football, not travel league. They play their conference and then try to schedule teams within a reasonable distance. They end up facing the best of the state when they get to the playoffs, just like everyone else. I also don't see Indy teams coming up here to play northern Indiana teams either.

2016: Carmel 21 - Penn 10 .... Carmel beat defending champs Center Grove in 6A Championship

2015: Penn 16 - Carmel 10 ... Penn lost to Center Grove in the 6A Championship

2014: Carmel 14 - Penn 13 ... Carmel lost to Warren Central 7-6 in 6A Championship

I could give a sh!t less but what in those scores should deny Penn respect?

Find it comical to look at the weekly polls and see Penn ranked #1 in 6A with another blowout win against someone like South Bend St. Joseph. It happens every year.

Carmel is a good team and that is the first time Penn sees one every year, in semi-state. Bullies of Northern IN HS football. I don't even think they play Fort Wayne.

No disrespect to this kid, but is he good enough to get an offer? If he's such a lock he seems like someone you can slow play for a while.
