Not that this matters but for mere facts:

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p>There was a shooting of a woman this a.m. in Baltimore County, who at last report was alive and in serious condition. I'm at that scene.</p>— Justin Fenton (@justin_fenton) <a href="https://twitter.com/justin_fenton/status/546445622556250113">December 20, 2014</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

There's an article linked in post # 27.

Don't know how it gets much more clear than that. You're admittedly spitballing, and I'll just say that I fundamentally disagree any attempt to disassociate this from the incidents he's referencing.

Gotcha. So what do you propose we do about this?

I don't understand or recognize the world we are living in today. Just senseless. I don't know where we lost our understanding and value of human life. This just makes me sick.

That's just so pitiful. Wow. Bet this guy is NJNP's hero. Even worse are the 32 "likes" on that status. Fuck those people, I hope they all have their names exposed.

Before I got down to your post, I was wondering what he would say.

CNN reports a NYPD Presser at the top of the hour.

Mayor de Blasio will be there.

Forty years ago this past May, two NYC cops, Waverly Jones and Joseph Piagentini, were ambushed and executed by three members of the BLA in Haarlem. One was black, one was white, both were equally dead.

We've made a lot of progress since then ... or have we?

CNN just said about the cops, "both were sitting in the car, both men were shot in the head".

Don't know if that was a slip of the anchor's tongue or reporting fact.

The reporting has been gender neutral mentioning either cops or officers.

I've heard CNN and Fox refer to the officers as men 3-4 times but again, not sure if that is just out of habit.

Mayor de Blasio called this an assasination and that that an attract on a police officer is an attack on all New Yorkers.

Both cops were male.

Asked for prayers for the family, support families, be thankful for heroes like these.

Bratton Q&A

(Bratton doesn't look like Tom Selleck at all. About half his height)

Some about emotions cops feel at times like these.

The shooter ID'd as Ismaaiyl Brinsley, 28 years old. The shooter's Instagram postings were on the account of the wounded woman in Maryland. Investigation will try to determine what his actual motivation was. His last residence was Atlanta. Had GF in Baltimore. Some "connectivity" to Brooklyn.

No evidence of ties to any organizations at this time.

" one of the realities, you put that blue uniform and you are the thin line between anarchy."

de Blasio asked about rift with PD. He responded now is not the time for politics.

Bratton asked about shooter,s ties to demonstrations. "unknown at this time. Will be investigated"

Bratton asked for public's health if you see something, say something.

Bratton mentioned tragedy of news from Maryland just arriving as shooting started. He mentioned putting a smart phone in car society officers could see photo as well as text.

My heart goes out to these families...they are in my prayers.

I suspect there will be a day or two cease fire on the politics front, but you can bet this thing is going to be a shitstorm of finger pointing.

I suspected Mr. Deblasio's demeanor toward the cops was going to cause violence...but I expected the cops to come unglued at the protesters chanting kill cops resulting in an all out brawl/riot...

I honestly didn't expect this...I didn't think anyone was that stupid...but no accounting for an angry whackjob...did Sharpton/Deblasio et al. weponize this guy...nah, he was going to kill someone.

Did Deblasio and Sharpton's antics point this whackjob at the NY cops...I think it is probable.

....but we'll see what else is uncovered. I'm hoping the NYPD isn't letting anyone touch anything until THEY are done investigating...so I expect the investigation to be clean and its findings to be unfiltered...

This is sad and frustrating beyond belief...

I know it's probably hard for you but please try and leave race out of it. 2 innocent cops are dead lets just focus on their families and say prayers for them.

Its too late to leave it at this point. People tried to get race removed and have an adult conversation but others refused and this is a result.

This hits close to home and the direction this could turn is frightening. I have a number of close friends in the NYPD with one stationed in Brooklyn.

I can only hope that everyone sees how real and disturbing this just got and scales back their anger and any irrational ideas they may have.

Just saw video of the honorable mayor walking through a corridor of NYC police , to his press conference with Bratton . They turned their back on him .

The police union wants Mr Mayor having nothing to do with the burial of these two officers .

Merry Christmas Billy Di .

Terrible situation. I pray for the officers families in a such a difficult time. I also thank God my father is retired from law enforcement of 30 years.

It was scary being a kid not knowing if your dad may not come home.

This was turned into a racial issue by the slime of the earth like Al Sharpton. They got what they wanted. This was revenge in the shooters mind, now 2 families are grieving the loss of their innocent loved ones.

I'd like to put Rev. Al and his followers in the Octagon with my man Conor Mcgregor.

I wish there was a way to get the opinion of people that have an idea for a resolution to the race issue.

It may be a lot to ask but could we have a thread that was dedicated to ONLY ways to remove racism as it is today? If someone posts something that seems racist we just remove it? I assume that is a lot of work but really I don't know. Of course its someones opinion but I am pretty sure we have plenty of people that can be reasonable on this board.

Thoughts? I always see a lot of complaints but never a resolve...Just a thought

EDIT: By "Racism today" I mean, I understand it will never go away but how can we dilute it?

This is a big part of the police v. public issue, in my mind. When the mayor uses inflammatory language like "assassination" and claims that it is an "attack on police", it just fires people up. It fosters an "Us vs. Them" mentality. Then, there are those on both sides who just aren't very bright, but are incredibly zealous. Those are the people who cannot think their way through the rhetoric, and see these incidents for what they are. So they then apply their zealotry to the issue, take it way too far, and sweep some others up in the process. In the meantime, the other side freaks out and swings all of the way the other way, to try to balance out the fanaticism on the other side. It's a vicious cycle.
