Not sure if it's true, but I've seen on a few different boards where posters are asking mods to look into/confirm that Yeast's dad will be getting a spot on the Kentucky staff, and Russ will be following him.

We have a great chance with Owusu. I think we have a good chance with JGH. I think we have a good chance with Yeast. I don't love our chances with Harris or the Hawaiian but they're taking late visits. Hippenhammer loves ND. Armstrong is visiting more than likely and it may come down to ND and Minnesota if he decides to leave Missouri. Martin, who knows. I honestly think nobody knows anything credible about Martin.
I know you get really angry and negative about ND recruiting and I understand why, but there is no reason to not be optimistic about some of these guys.
This is how I see things right now and more will happen over the next 8 days.

Man, you are one optimistic mother-fucker. Reps, Sir.

New article on Yeast on BGI just surfaced. Lots of quotes from his HC. Says that Although he like Louisville, ND has always been on his personal fab 5 list they made together and alluded that ND may have been the top of that list. HC doesn't know but he may be leaning Irish

I actually prefer both JGH and Yeast over Hicks.

Not even close.

Hicks was always a solid filler, Mathias Farley like guy that gave you good flexibility from being a slower, more physical CB to a smaller safety who might be better there than CB.

Yeast is physically, a potential NFL talent. He might be too good not to give a shot at offense too. Some guys I know/follow who follow/officiate MIC football in Indy thought he was the best all around football player they have seen in the 6A football era.

JGH, joins DJ Morgan and Spencer Perry as hybrid guys that played a lot of FS in high school that you would guess are moving forward. That means they bring above average pass coverage skills with them.

Sounds like parents would be on board, but not sure he is. The relationships he's built with the Louisville class may be too much. He's apparently very close with those guys. Petrino gets the last word going in-home tonight. Going to be a tough one to pull off.

“It’s going to be hard to say no to {Notre Dame},” Moore said. “I know he really like’s Louisville, but I know they lost a couple of the coaches that were recruiting him.”

per his coach

Take what you can to land him.

Any idea how much time he's spent face to face with the other UoL recruits? Has he visited UoL a lot?

Looks like 50-50 between Louisville and ND. He's become very close with the UL recruits, and also wonders why ND never offered sooner. They've pretty much told him they were full at the time, considering they had adebo, hicks, and graham.

I'd be like... "Cuz the DC we got rid of wouldn't let us. Good news is we play his new team next year, so you'll get to further prove what we already know."

did elko offer him while at wake?

Without checking, I doubt it. I do know he had a NW offer for a long time.

With Elston being in charge of Indy, all I know is he didn't get an offer when it was BK, BVG, Lyght & Elston making the decision. As soon as it was BK, Elko, Lyght, Elston... he got an offer. Deductive reasoning says:

A. BVG is to blame.

I get having Graham and even Adebo above him but Hicks is NOT the athlete nor prospect Russ Yeast is. It was a forgone conclusion that Hicks was a swing guy as a DB. That's basic code for, he's slow. Doesn't mean he can't be a good DB but it says he closer to 4.7 than he is 4.4. Adebo is like Yeast. He's a football player on both sides of the ball. Very productive, high ceiling guys. If it's that close, why do you not offer the guy closest to campus too?

Gotta heat check these guys with offers early. These guys are spoiled with attention, if you aren't bringing it, they're like... fine, don't offer me ND. I got a Bama offer. Who's wrong here?

If you're a parent this is where you need to step in and say look, I understand why you are a little burned that they didn't offer you earlier, but that was a new staff. And the bottom line is, you are either going to be a Louisville graduate one day, or a Notre Dame graduate, and when that is the difference at the end of the day, timing of this is small potatoes. I hope he has these types of parents.

Who says no to the hot chick at closing time just because she didn't talk to you from 10-2?

The mentality of most recruits is that they are the "hot chick" and you've been ignoring them all night while you hit on someone else.

It takes a very active happy hour to think ND is the "hot chick" at the cfb bar scene these days dude...

I can't remember which recruits thread it was in (might even be this one), but I brought up this very subject about last minute offers and kids having their feelings hurt for not being offered before and was basically told I was off base that most kids understand the recruiting process. You know coaches are going to be in the kids ear telling them they were showing the love early while ND is looking at you as a filler. If the kid has a big ego (not saying Yeast does), he's not going to flip. He's going to tell you to buzz off. you can only hope the kid is reasonable and accepts the "BVG is an idiot" excuse.

It's not just hurt feelings. It may be that you think you are being recruited to fill out a roster, rather than actually play.

That is what a new coach (BVG out, Elko in) is actually a really good reason to re-consider.

Yeah. I think the coaching change makes the "why not offer sooner" question very easy to explain away.
